The Big Bang Theory is back and Sheldon is STILL awesome. In the second season premiere, there is more great Penny/Sheldon interaction, and trouble for the budding romance of Penny and Leonard.

Leonard and Penny come back from their first date and end the night with an awkward kiss, with the foreplay being a scientific discussion about yogurt. The boys have rigged up cameras in the hallway to watch the post-date interaction, but thankfully Penny does not notice the zoom lens to her chest. The boys tell Leonard that the date did not go well since no second date was made and Penny asked to slow things down, but Leonard insists they're wrong.

Penny catches up with Sheldon in the laundry room, where he is using a clothes-folding gadget that I now desperately need to purchase. She confides in him that she lied to Leonard on their date about graduating from community college. It seems she's become suddenly concerned that she's not smart enough to date Leonard, and asks Sheldon if Leonard will eventually get bored with her. After confessing, she asks Sheldon to keep it a secret, which leads to one of his patented freak-outs. He insists that she was supposed to give him the option of agreeing to secrecy before her revelation, because secret-keeping is too complicated an endeavor. He does eventually agree to keep the secret because Penny tells him their friendship precludes it.

Later, Leonard starts to worry that Penny is rejecting him, and Sheldon gets antsy and defensive despite Leonard asking him nothing. Sheldon heads down to the Cheesecake Factory demanding that Penny "release him from his oath". When that option is unavailable, he decides in true hyperbolic style to move out of the apartment before he cracks. At first, he stays with Raj (in some universe where the expansive studio Raj has can somehow be deemed a "teeny, tiny apartment"), but then they fight about Bollywood actresses, and Raj drops him off with Howard. We get more of Howard's mom, who thankfully remains a voice because I think seeing her would ruin the whole thing. When Sheldon can't stop rambling top ten lists of Catwomans and X-Men, Howard shoves him back at Leonard with a few doses of Valium added in for fun. Drugged-up Sheldon spills Penny's secret to Leonard... and also reveals that he's Batman.

Leonard gets it in his head that he can fix this by giving Penny a brochure for community college - insert facepalm here. She asks if she needs a degree to date him, and he says no, so then she asks if it's fine with him that she's not smart, to which he answers "Absolutely." Insert door slammed in Leonard's face here.

So what do you think of the monkey wrench in the Leonard/Penny relationship? How did you like the premiere in general? Leave your Two Cents down past some of the best quotes of the night.

    Quotes:
Leonard: Why don't we just figure out where we're going and when we want to get there, and then rate of speed equals distance over time. Solve for R.
Penny: ... Or we could just wing it.

Sheldon: You thought the opposite of "stupid loser" was "community college graduate"?

Raj: What did you do? Did you change the contrast or brightness settings on the television? Did you take a Band-Aid off in front of him?
    Leonard: No.
Howard: Did you buy generic ketchup, forget to rinse the sink, talk to him through the bathroom door?
Raj: Adjust the thermostat, cook with cilantro, pronounce the 't' in "often"?
    Leonard: No.
Howard: (ominously) Did you make fun of trains?

Sheldon: It's my pre-packed disaster evacuation bag. Recommended by the Department of Homeland Security. And Sarah Connor.

Raj: (dropping Sheldon on Howard's doorstep) Tag, you're it! (runs)
Howard: (yelling) Shouldn't you put him in a brown paper bag and set him on fire!?

And one for the Hall of Fame:
Sheldon: When I try to deceive, I myself have more nervous tics than a lyme disease research facility.
