Later he is battling the weather to pull his test pots. Phil notices that his youngest son Jake isn’t on deck helping, and calls him to order him out on deck. Jake stops into the wheelhouse and Phil threatens his that he’ll dock him a percentage if he doesn’t put in the work. The hurricane is coming, but the crew has to work through it to make a 48-hour deadline.

    The Wizard

Captain Keith is navigating through the edge of the hurricane. He is trying to get as much fishing in as possible before the weather gets worse. The crew is working much harder now after Keith’s motivational speech the previous night (and previous episode). As they’re dropping the last pot of a string, an enormous wave crashes over the deck. Deckhand Lenny was smart enough to grab a hold of the coiler as to not get washed overboard. It was an 11-ton wave. Something terrible can happene very quickly on a fishing vessel.

    The Northwestern

Captain Sig is battling a snowstorm in the grounds. He and his crew have been up and working for 24 hours straight. Then Sig gets a call from the processing plant that has bumped up the delivery date by two days, and wants a larger load! Even though he’s promised the crew no more all-nighters, they will have to do another. There was a scary moment when the tired crew forgot to tie down a pot and it slid off of the launcher and almost crushed greenhorn Jake. The crew helped him in time. After toiling through the night, the Northwestern had made it’s quota. The tired crew can finally rest.

    The Time Bandit

Captain Andy is still on a hot streak. He in only 35 thousand pounds short of his first drop off. Captain Jonathan decides to go out on deck to help the crew. He is very helpful, but had a bad throw of the hook and it comes back and hits him in the face. Fortunately he is ok and he goes out to finish the string he started. They need his help to finish filling the tank before the hurricane hits.

This was one of the more tiring episodes to watch. It was exhausting to see what the crew of the Northwestern had to endure after being handed their new deadline. It’s also interesting to see how the crews deal with the hurricane. To them, it is just another day on the Bering Sea. I was upset that I forgot my umbrella today. What do you think?
