Think back to 1998. Before her chemical cleansing by Xenu, Katie Holmes was everyone's favorite girl from the "wrong side of the creek." Now that she's become Victoria Beckham, what better time to revisit the early days of Dawson's Creek and remember how angsty and wonderfully verbose it all was?
Dawson's Creek is a teen drama created by Kevin Williamson that aired from January 1998 until May of 2003. It was loosely based on Williamson's teen years, and centered on a film-loving 15-year-old named Dawson Leery (James Van Der Beek). For years, he and Josephine Potter, better known as Joey (Katie Holmes), have been best friends, but she has a crush on him. This is threatened by the arrival of Jen Lindley (Michelle Williams), who Dawson instantly falls for when she moves in next door. Keeping the laid-back sidekick commentary going is Pacey Witter (Joshua Jackson).

For those of you who followed the series, you know that Dawson eventually took a backseat to the awesomeness that was Pacey and Joey, and that Jen's only successful relationship was with gay friend Jack, and that all the innocence of the first season was the beginning of six seasons of fabulous melodrama and bed-hopping. But for this summer, I will be watching and reliving those first episodes of witty dialogue and pop culture references, and I hope you all will enjoy the nostalgia and maybe even watch along with me. Remember the Wednesday night phone calls about Dawson v. Pacey, Joey v. Jen, or even Mitch v. Weatherman Bob, and be sure to give your Two Cents in the comments!
Note: As the Summer DVD Book Club will run for 11 weeks, I'll be skipping over two of these 13 episodes - "Road Trip" because I don't really care for it, and "The Scare" because it is a stand-alone episode that conveniently follows "Road Trip". However, I will do a quick intro before the following episode to bring us up to speed at that time.
Oh, the torch I held for my very own Dawson in high school... too bad he never had a ladder leading to his bedroom window ;)
