So, this is part one of the season finale, folks. Seems like we just started this party. So, this week’s ep is a crazy Matrix-Memento mash up of flashbacks, hallucinations and awesome. House was in a bus crash but can’t remember any of the details of how it happened or how he happened to be on the bus in the first place. Dude, hang on because this is one confusing ride. I will apologize for the length of this recap. Everything is connected and it was all just too good to leave out.

The episode starts with House in a strip club getting a very confusing lap dance. He has no idea where he is or how he got there or how he got a head wound. He keeps seeing flashes in his head of someone who he deduces is going to die if he doesn’t save them. He walks outside to see a bus crash.

So, as Cameron is stitching up House’s head, he tells the Houselings to find out where he went and also to find the whereabouts of his cane and motorcycle. He also has the entire ER full of bus crash victims quarantined so he find out how the bus crashed and how House came to be on the bus in the first place.

Chase hypnotizes House. House is in the bus. Apparently, House started out in a bar at 5 pm drinking beer. What’s awesome about this scene is that everything is so generic. You can tell it’s a bar because there’s a mirrored wall full of liquor bottles, but since he can’t remember what the brand names were they’re all clear bottles of clear liquid with a bright white label with “Liquor” written in black typeface. That’s a really good attention to detail. As he’s flashing back, Chase and Wilson appear in the bar. They start talking about Amber for some reason and she shows up in the bar. Then there’s talk of House wishing she were naked. He remembers the bartender and the faceless teeming masses in the bar. The bartender took House’s keys because he was drunk and that’s why he was on the bus. He starts remember the bus passengers. One is a very attractive brunette with a sad look on her face who looks like she has no business being on a city bus. She looks right at House.

Back to now. Ok, so then the bus driver is in the ER and he starts having limb paralysis. Then House starts sniffing the bus passenger’s clothes while taking tons of Vicodin to trigger flashbacks and hallucinations. Wilson forces House to have an MRI and they find he has a cracked skull from the accident. Next House starts bleeding from his ear so he dunks himself in a bath for the sensory deprivation. Seriously, he’s bleeding from his ear and they go straight to a bath? I’m freaking out if I’m bleeding out of my ear.

In the bath flashback. House is back on the bus. Cuddy is there. She tells him that it’s not a memory, it’s a fantasy and then Lisa Edelstein and her abs of steel are in a very revealing catholic school girl uniform doing a pole dance trying to help him diagnose the bus driver. Then there’s the brunette chick again who says she’s the answer and this is all very Matrix for me.

Back to now: House is then helped out of the tub by the Houselings, Wilson, Cuddy and Foreman. He figured out the bus driver has Parkinson’s and that’s how the bus crashed. Also, House starts puking and passes out in the tub. Only, it wasn’t Parkinson’s and House is at home per Cuddy’s orders. There’s a security guard and a nurse to ensure the futility of his escape attempts.

House is back at the hospital per Cuddy and now he knows what’s wrong with the bus driver. He thinks the new dental work the guy has somehow pushed an air bubble into the driver’s bloodstream. House tricks everyone but Thirteen out of the room and shoves his cane in the sliding door.

Hey! Thirteen has a name! It’s Dr. Hadley! Cuddy ordered her to open the door and used her name. Dr. Hadley is conflicted but helps House anyway. Turns out it really was an air bubble.

Cuddy takes House home. He’s in his bed and she’s on his sofa. He falls asleep but he wakes up and walks into the living room and then there’s that Answer chick on his sofa. Then they talk about her necklace which looks like a fly in an orange kind of resin and she gets all sexy on him then there’s this red scarf and he starts tying her up and where the hell is this going? Answer chick is bleeding from where the scarf is wrapped around her leg and then House wakes up.

The dream says House saved the wrong person. They set up a bus and stage a reenactment with hospital staff. The staff members are all representing different passengers and have signs around their necks with the passengers’ faces. House starts flashbacking again and taking Alzheimer’s drugs to jog his memory. Answer chick is back in the hallucination. She asks him repeatedly who she is and what her fly in the ointment necklace is made of. He doesn’t know, and when she starts to prod him, House figures it out. The necklace is made of Amber. Amber was on the bus wearing a red scarf. Uh oh. The next scene shows the crash and Amber being crushed by the bus apparently. Oh wait. She’s got a nasty gash in her head and a pole through her leg. He wakes up and sees her, ties the scarf around her leg as a tourniquet and she says she’s cold. He passes back out and when he wakes up he sees Amber being taken away. He walks away from the accident.

But it’s all still a flashback. His heart stopped from the drugs. They’re doing CPR. He wakes up and tells them about Amber. Wilson realizes he hasn’t heard from her. Uh oh. Why was Amber on the bus? House says Amber is the one who was dying.

    And….cliffhanger. Wow.

  2. Great episode! Can't wait for part 2. How about that pole dancing by Cuddy? Dam! she is in good shape. That House...and his fantasy...they had to be laughing during this shot of her dancing in front of him.
