Tonight’s theme on American Idol was “Judges/Contestants/Producers Choice.” Just like Sadie Hawkins, without couple pictures in front of a construction paper barn. Just me? OK. Anyway, as always, song choice is the key tonight. When will they ever learn? Keep reading for all the pitchy details…

David Archuleta
1st Song: “And So It Goes” by Billy Joel and chosen by Paula
Randy said David can sing anything and that he was “in it to win it.”
Paula thought it was a pure and stunning performance.
Simon wasn’t surprised and thought it was predictable.
2nd Song: “With You” by Chris Brown and chosen by David
Randy was not sure if this was a good song choice.
Paula thought he did a great job.
Simon said it was like a chihuahua trying to be a tiger; “It’s not you.”
3rd Song: “Longer Than” by Bread and chosen by the producers
Randy thought it was an interesting song choice, but very hot.
Paula said it was a lovely performance.
Simon said he sang the song well, but it is such a gooey song that he hated it.
Syesha Mercado
1st Song: “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys and chosen by Randy
Randy said she did an amazing job and that she is peaking at the right time.
Paula thought she looked stunning.
Simon said she sang the song very well and looked gorgeous.
2nd Song: “Fever” by Peggy Lee and chosen by Syesha
Randy didn’t like the song choice but said she sang it well.
Paula thought the song didn’t show Syesha off, but she still looks lovely.
Simon thinks she will regret the song choice decision tomorrow and that it was cabaret.
3rd Song: “Hit Me Up” by Gia Farrell and chosen by the producers
Randy said the performance was just O.K.
Paula thought she did the song well but that type of song does not define Syesha.
Simon said it was better than her second song.
David Cook
1st Song: “First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” by Roberta Flack and chosen by Simon
Randy needed “more rock.”
Paula said that this is one of her favorite songs and his performance was second only to the original. (She loved it.)
Simon thought it was one of David C’s best performances.
2nd Song: “Dare you to Move” by Switchfoot and chosen by David
Randy thought it was a great song choice but a bit pitchy in spots.
Paula wanted more. (She loved it.)
Simon said the performance was exactly what he expected it would be.
3rd Song: “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” by Diane Warren and chosen by the producers
Randy thought it was very predictable and just O.K.
Paula said “See you in the finals!”
Simon declared David C. the winner of the night.
So what do YOU think? What was your favorite performance? Who will go to the finals? Did Simon really mock the tween-heavy mosh pit in front of the stage? Give us your Two Cents… We’ll put it in a 401k.
Tomorrow: The Results
Who'd a thunk that a song from Bread would make an appearance?
