David Cook
1st Song: “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” by U2, chosen by Clive Davis
Randy said it was a great way to start the duel.
Paula thinks she has found what she is looking for: David Cook.
Simon said it was phenomenal.

2nd Song: “Dream Big” picked by David from the top ten winners of the Idol songwriting contest.
Randy said he “sang his face off.”
Paula was mesmerized by David.
Simon thought it was a bit lightweight.

3rd Song: “The World I Know” by Collective Soul
Randy said he did a very nice job.
Paula declared David was “standing in his truth.”
Simon said David is one of the nicest, most sincere contestants ever, but it was a wrong song choice.

David Archuleta
1st Song: “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” by Elton John, chosen by Clive Davis
Randy Said he was flawless.
Paula thought it was a stunning, beautiful performance.
Simon gave round one to Archuleta.

2nd Song: “In This Moment” picked by David from the top ten winners of the Idol songwriting contest.
Randy said he was in the zone.
Paula thought it was pure magic.
Simon gave round two to Archuleta.

3rd Song: “Imagine” by John Lennon
Randy said he is exactly what this show is about.
Paula was left speechless.
Simon said that this show is about finding a star… and they did.
