The season finale of 30 Rock has come and gone. They covered a lot of information since returning from the strike and they made us laugh while telling their stories. Our hero, Liz Lemon, was still lonely and dealing with her dysfunctional staff at TGS. Jack was in line for the biggest promotion of his career. What are we left with after this finale? The season finale of 30 Rock has come and gone. They covered a lot of information since returning from the strike and they made us laugh while telling their stories. Our hero, Liz Lemon, was still lonely and dealing with her dysfunctional staff at TGS. Jack was in line for the biggest promotion of his career. What are we left with after this finale? Let me recap it for you.
Liz can’t put down her bag of Sabor de Soledad, Mexican cheese curls. What is the reason for her constant hunger? No, it’s not only that eating is her favorite past time. She takes four pregnancy tests and she’s a winner on all of them. Who could be the proud father? “Subway Hero!!!” Yes, none other than Dennis “The Beeper King” Duffy. “Blurgh,” is right my friend. It made for great comedy when he made hand motions in the air, circling up her breasts with his index fingers and ending with two thumbs up exclaiming, “Oh, yeah and your boobs are going to get bigger too!” Nice. Well, the twist at the end is that Liz isn’t pregnant after all. Turns out all of those Mexican cheese curls she’s been eating contained a hormone or chemical that fooled her body into thinking she was pregnant.
Tonight, Jack arrived to Washington D.C. to assume his new position with The Bush Administration – Homeland Security, something about weather, and The War on The Poor. Turns out the department he is employed by has so little funding that they cannot afford pens. Just when Jack shows off his leadership ability to his new co-workers and makes a best friend out of one of them, Cooter Burger (Matthew Broderick), Jack learns that Don Geiss is coming out of his coma and his first words were, “Jackie Boy.” The only way to get out of his new job is to get fired and he promises Cooter he’ll help him get fired too. They successfully get fired by exploiting a little-known government experiment that involves a nerve gas that makes everyone who breathes it homosexual.
At the end of the episode Jack shows up at Liz’s apartment to see how she’s doing with the whole pregnancy thing after listening to several voicemail messages she leaves for him. It is at this time we find out that she is not pregnant and reveals that she wants to have a child, but through adoption. Jack, being the caring friend that he has always been to Liz, offer assistance through the contacts he has to help find Liz a child.
Quick notes on the other characters:
- Kenneth applies, with Jenna’s help, to be a page for NBC’s coverage of the Summer Olympics in China. He is accepted and we see him getting cozy with a Chinese female, but is interrupted by some kind of hitman.
- Tracy finishes his porn video game, with voiceover help from Jenna and Grizz, and gives a copy to Frank to test. 3 months later Frank finally comes out of his office, bearded, to reveal that the game is a success. Tracy believes he will strike it rich.
This episode was a great wrap up of the season and gave enough for us to wonder what will be in store for Liz Lemon, Jack, and TGS next season. There’s a lot to ponder. Instead of a relationship with a man, we will see how Liz Lemon approaches adoption and becoming a single mother. Jack will continue his quest to become head of GE. What the heck is going on with Kenneth? How successful will Tracy’s porn video game be? There is so much to work with for next season. How did you like the finale?
