Late Night with Conan O’Brien
Original Air Date: Saturday January 5, 2008

How did Conan finish his week’s return to TV? Very strong and entertaining.
Conan spun his wedding ring for a third time on national television. He introduced his rehearsal ritual to the public during his return show on Wednesday night (Thursday morning) attempting to beat his record time of 41 seconds spinning. He fell short again in front of the crowd with a time of 31 seconds.
This prompted Conan to verbally assume that his audience and viewers are questioning his showmanship. So what did he do? He put on a shiny blazer he explained as being on loan from the Liberace Museum, put on a black cowboy hat, grabbed a guitar, and led the band in a rendition of Elvis Presley’s “Blue Moon of Kentucky.”
Conan’s guests: Bill Maher, host of Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO; Jim Cramer, host of Mad Money on CNBC; Mike Destefano, comedian.
PG’s TwoCents: Bill Maher wasn’t very interesting and the audience seemed bored with his political commentary. Even Conan seemed uncomfortable with Bill Maher’s dialogue. Conan’s next two guests, always lively Jim Cramer and comedian Mike Destefano, woke the audience back up. Singing and playing the guitar with the band on “Blue Moon of Kentucky” was a great way to end the week. The man can entertain, plain and simple. I look forward to what he has in store for his fans next week.
Conan’s Quote: “Olive Garden, pretty good for the money.” – Yelling into a megaphone during his interview of Jim Cramer, when discussing the topic of Olive Garden not being authentic Italian, just “pretty good.”
