Seriously, where is Ted? On to the recap:

At the hospital, we meet Dr. No-Shot (a pediatrician who doesn’t give shots) played by Carlos Jacott. I don’t trust Dr. No-Shot because he has played bad guys in all of Joss Whedon’s television series’. Yes, I know there is a difference between actors and the characters they play, but still.

JD admits to Turk that he does not love Kim but because of the baby, he is going to stick with the relationship hoping that maybe, someday, he’ll wake up and be magically in love with her. This is one of the worst ideas that JD has ever had, and he’s had some clunkers. It is not fair to Kim, the baby, or JD himself.

Meanwhile, Carla is irked at Turk for paying more attention to a video game than their daughter Izzie and gives the gaming system to JD. Unfortunately, JD has no time to use it because his baby-beeper goes off… Kim is in labor.

While at the hospital to “support” JD, Turk tries desperately to finish the game before JD takes the system home. He recruits The Janitor to play the required second shooter, and then discovers Carla is the real pro. She is addicted to the game, too, and that is why she wanted it out of the house.

Dr. Cox also shows up at the hospital looking for a doctor to give his daughter Jennifer a shot. He doesn’t want to do it himself because he doesn’t want Jennifer to associate him with pain.

Also at the hospital is Dr. Kelso, who is actually living there because his wife kicked him out over a month ago. And may I say, Drunk Kelso is very funny.

After a cameo by Colin Hay, the lead singer of Men At Work (it’s a long story), Kim tells JD she’s in love with him and JD finally confesses that he is not in love with her but that he has a hope that maybe someday he will be. Having had a child myself, I can attest that labor is not a good time to make a lady mad. Kim freaks and kicks him out of the delivery room and her life.

Throughout the rest of the episode, JD learns that great parenting doesn’t have a simple formula. Ah, the things we do for our children: Turk and Carla finishing that game so they can pay more attention to Izzie; Dr. Cox searching the hospital for someone he trusts to give Jennifer the shot cause Dr. No-Shot won’t do it; Dr. Kelso consoling his gay son Harrison over the phone after a breakup. JD realizes that parenting is all about sacrifice and that he needs to be there for his son, even if Kim is on a war-path.

In the end, Sammy is born and the storm subsides. Both Kim and JD know that even if their relationship is ending, a new one is just beginning with their new son.

Next week – The gang gets a lesson in being environmentally conscience.
