Multiple twists all the way through the two hours this week. To save time, let’s skip the commentary and go character by character:

“Susan”, whose name is actually Gretchen, tells her story to LJ: She tried to escape from a hostage situation behind enemy lines, unaware that she was to be part of an exchange. Her escape was viewed as a hostile act, and she was repeatedly tortured. She uses this as a cautionary tale for LJ.

Michael is set to do the break in the afternoon, well ahead of when the conspiracy expects it. Before he does it, he asks Linc for one final picture of LJ and Sara. When Susan provides the picture, it is a reworking of the same picture Michael has already seen. Instead of showing him the picture, Linc confesses that Sara is dead. Distraught, Michael confronts Whistler and challenges him to a battle to the death. But as the inmates ready for blood, and the combatants prepare for battle, Michael tells Whistler they have the distraction they need, and the escape attempt begins, only to have the distracting glare be removed by passing clouds. They climb back up and stash the ladder, but it falls out again during the fight, sending Sona into its second lockdown.

Linc slips up and lets Susan know that the break is in the afternoon, not at night as planned. She almost kills LJ for this, but Linc manages to keep him alive. A further lie after the failed break does not help matters.

We learn Lechero’s real name is Norman St. John. “Lechero” is Spanish for “milkman”, a disguise he used to gain revenge for atrocities against his family. When he loses a man during the lockdown, he loses face with the Sona inmates, and he tells Michael there is only one thing for him to do…If Michael is breaking out, Lechero is going with him.

Mahone is offered a reduced sentence in America, which temporarily gets him out of Sona. But as he waits to talk with the Judge, he comes down off of his high and starts to become more and more erratic, convinced that it is all a ploy to get him to confess to the crimes he is accused of.

Sofia helps Linc drug the Sona guard for the escape, but then pulls a gun on him, making it clear that her loyalties are to Whistler.

Sucre follows the van with LJ and waits for word from Linc. After the failed attempt, the van speeds away and Sucre allows his car to be rammed in order to stop them. Linc takes out a couple guards, but cannot ring himself to kill Susan in order for LJ to go free. They disappear, but a last minute meeting between her and Whistler stays LJ’s execution for a few more days, and the question of who Whistler is starts to loom even larger.

Prison Break airs Mondays at 8 PM on FOX. Episodes can also be viewed at the FOX website.
