A sweaty guy is tied up and being administered a truth serum by a bad guy (Kevin Weisman, Alias). This truth serum is some bad stuff it works very well but it also kills you within three hours. The bad guy lets the sweaty guy go to retrieve some nuclear codes he has stashed somewhere with the promise to trade them for the antidote if he can get back with the codes within the three hour window.

At the Buy More, Lou (Rachel Bilson, The O.C.) shows up with a broken phone she needs Chuck to fix – sparks fly, and not from her broken PDA phone. Lou runs a deli in the mall and she’s thinking up new sandwich ideas to calm her nerves since her whole life was stored on that phone. She invents a turkey, muenster cheese and grilled egg bread sandwich that sounds pretty good. Chuck promises to work his magic as she heads out the door. Chuck follows her with his eyes and Morgan shows up to accuse him of being a mind-cheater – cheating on Sarah in his head. ‘

The sweaty guy finds his secret code stash but he’s in bad shape and he stumbles into the sushi place where Chuck, Sarah, Ellie and Captain Awesome are double dating. The guy needs a doctor and Dr. Ellie and Captain Awesome spring into action. They load the sweaty guy onto an ambulance and Chuck flashes on him and realizes that he’s a bad guy. He may be a bad guy, but the really bad guy (Kevin Weisman) is also in the crowd watching as the ambulance pulls away.

Back home everyone is waiting for Ellie to come home from the hospital. Sarah tells Chuck that they’ve been fake dating for the right amount of time that it’s going to look weird if she doesn’t start sleeping over sometimes to “maintain the cover.” Ellie shows up and tells everyone the guy was poisoned and he died.

General Grandma tells Casey and Sarah that the guy did have top secret nuclear intelligence and she wants Chuck to go to the morgue with Casey and Sarah to search his body for a computer chip.

Morgan gets stuck helping Harry’s wife pick out a surprise present for her husband. She flirts hard with Morgan while being secretly videotaped by a couple of the Nerd Herd. Lou shows up to get her good-as-new phone from Chuck and she’s brought him the sandwich she invented. She’s even going to name it after him at her deli. Sparks are still flying between the two, but then Sarah shows up and ruins Chuck’s game and sending Lou off in a huff.

The spies search the body and high-tech bugging gizmo on the guy’s body. Over at Chuck’s place Kevin Weisman is posing as a cop who is questioning Ellie about the sweaty dead guy. He doses her with the truth serum and plants a bug on her.

Chuck meets Lou in the parking lot and tries to explain that things are “complicated” between him and Sarah and Lou tells Chuck that if things ever become uncomplicated that he should stop by the deli for a Chuck sandwich. Sarah sees Chuck talking to Lou and looks like maybe she’s a little jealous, but not really.

Harry Tang (C.S. Lee, Dexter) sees Morgan on the video flirting with his wife. He’s suspected that his wife was having an affair for months now, but he’s devastated that it was with Morgan – his arch enemy or his arch enemy’s best friend anyway.

Chuck and Sarah are about to have their first sleep over and Chuck is hoping that things will get romantic. Casey settles in at his place for a nice evening of eavesdropping with all the listening devices he has planted in Chuck’s apartment. Ellie and Captain Awesome get into a fight because she’s dosed with the deadly truth serum and Kevin Weisman is trying to listen in with the bug he’s got planted on Ellie. Casey intercepts the signal and heads over to find the bug on Ellie who’s passed out by this time.

They rush Ellie to the hospital and Chuck is freaking out because he Ellie was dosed with the same stuff that the dead guy had in his system so she’s going to die. He wants to find the nuclear codes and trade them to the bad guy for the antidote. Casey has the bug that was planted on Ellie so Chuck uses it to lure the bad guy to the hospital. Captain Awesome leaves Ellie’s lucky sweater (the one she was wearing the night the sweaty guy died on her) in her room and Chuck finds the nuclear codes hidden in her pocket.

The baddie shows up and they have the bug planted on Casey who’s in a dark wig pretending to be Ellie. Casey and Sarah get the drop on the guy, but he pulls out a big vile of the deadly truth serum and a bottle of the antidote. He offers to trade the antidote for the codes or to drop the truth serum and force Casey and Sarah to tell him where they’ve hidden the secret codes. Just then, Chuck rushes in and knocks the truth serum vile to the floor dosing everyone including himself with the deadly serum.

The bad guy takes off but drops his dose of antidote and his little tracking gizmo. Casey and Sarah demand that Chuck take the antidote since his brain contains so much valuable information but Chuck tells them he is going to pretend to take it and then give it to his sister. The truth serum is kicking in already. Chuck runs off and gives Ellie the antidote.

Chuck and the agents find the tracking gizmo and Chuck flashes on the bad guy. His name is Reardon Payne (finally a name for this guy!) and he sells secrets to the highest bidder. They use the device to track the guy back to his place and he offers them all the antidote, but it’s not real and Chuck’s knowledge of comic book bad guys keeps them from drinking the fake stuff. Reardon tries to run but Sarah shoots him in the leg and since he’s still (for some reason) dosed with the serum he tells them where the antidote is hidden. They all dose up but not before Chuck asks Sarah if they are ever going to more than a fake couple. She says they won’t be.

Later, Harry stumbles onto Casey, Sarah and Chuck talking to General Grandma in the back room at the Buy More. Casey tricks Harry into quitting the Buy More and moving to Hawaii where he thinks he’ll become a government agent. Later, Big Mike tells Morgan that Harry has quit and he’ll have to send that birthday gift he was working on with his wife to Hawaii. Big Mike also lets slip that it was he, who was in fact having the affair with Harry’s wife and that’s why he gave Harry the assistant manager job instead of Chuck.

The next day Chuck shows up at the hot dog place and tells Sarah that almost dying made him realize that he had a lot of things he needed to get done. He vowed that he was going to do this thing first and it looks like maybe he’s about to kiss her, but instead he breaks up with her or fake-breaks up with her since they weren’t really going out in the first place. Chuck heads over the mall to visit Lou and Sarah tells Casey that she wasn’t telling the truth yesterday when everyone thought she was dosed with the truth serum. She was trained by the CIA to withstand truth serums. So maybe she really does like Chuck. Frankly, my dear Sarah, I don’t give a damn.

I think this episode should have been titled Chuck Versus the Sandwich since he had a sandwich named after him and he was involved in a big Lou/Chuck/Sarah sandwich, but that’s just my opinion. I could be wrong. 3 stars out of 5 stars.
