Jimmy Kimmel To Host American Music Awards

Dick Clark Productions, Inc. today announced that Jimmy Kimmel, host and executive producer of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” will return to host the “2007 American Music Awards,” which will be broadcast live on the ABC television network SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 18 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET/PT).

“I am thrilled to return as host of the ‘2007 American Music Awards,’” said Kimmel. “This is my fourth time hosting. My intent is to break Glen Campbell’s all-time record of five. And his hip.”

The American Music Awards, which is celebrating its 35th Anniversary, will be the first awards show and live broadcast event to take place in the newly constructed 7,100 seat state-of-the-art NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE, which is located across from STAPLES Center in downtown Los Angeles. Nominees and a number of confirmed performers for the “2007 American Music Awards” will be announced on Tuesday, October 9.

“Jimmy Kimmel is a wonderful comedian and terrific host. His unique brand of comedy is unpredictable, which always benefits the show. We are honored to have him join us once again to host the show,” stated Larry Klein, producer of the “2007 American Music Awards.” “We have some terrific talent lined up to perform this year, and are really excited with some of the ideas and concepts being promoted for this year’s show.”

Terry Bateman, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, added: “The ‘2007 American Music Awards’ is the first show under our new ownership, led by Daniel M. Snyder, Dwight C. Schar and RedZone Capital. We are excited about some of the new elements being integrated into this year’s show, and anticipate that it’s going to be an incredibly successful night.”
