"Damages" Recap & Review - "Do You Regret What We Did?"

Damages
“Do You Regret What We Did?”

Original Air Date: September 25, 2007

Tom R - TwoCents Staff Writer

Generally, when I see a show’s creator(s) listed as the writers for the episode, I take that as a good sign. That opinion is strengthened tremendously by this week’s episode, where the title question, from a conversation between Ellen and Patty, casts a shadow over the hour.

Four weeks left. The momentum is back on track.

Present:
Ellen directs Tom to Patty’s beach house. He needs to get the keys from Patty’s office, where he runs into the ubiquitous Uncle Pete. He arrives at the beach house, and does not find Patty, but his visit does raise more questions, as Patty drives away from New York.

Past:
Greg Malina returns to the country to meet Katie. He tapes a confession naming SEC official George Moore as Frobisher’s contact. He slips it into her purse, also leaving her a whopping check before he is out of her life for good..

Convinced that Frobisher is the real problem, Moore meets with Ellen and feeds her information on an old Frobisher skeleton concerning an automobile death and the subsequent profits by the parents after Frobisher is cleared.

Psycho Lila copies David’s keys and returns them to his apartment. She shows up at Hewes and Associates to tell Ellen that she and David have been sleeping together. Ellen phones security, but Lila is out the door before they can get there. As Ellen and David head for a stay at Patty’s beach house, Ellen tells him about Lila’s past history of stalking and restraining orders.

Shining moment: The imaginary confrontation between Patty and Frobisher, as the settlement offers rise, and Patty is unmoved. The cut back to Frobisher is unexpected, and followed up with an even more unexpected method of releasing tension.

Damages airs Tuesdays at 10 PM on FX and repeats immediately and during the week.
