We finally find out what happened to John Locke. I don't know about you, but I had to re-wind it a few times to watch it. Also, Ben's eyes should win the Emmy. They are one of the best acted characters on television! I think I may be more excited for the clips they showed of next week though!
What did you think? Was it worth the three year wait for this part of Locke's backstory? What does next week look like to you? Head over to the Comments for the recap and let's start talking about it!

Television Without Pity's Recap
ReplyDeleteKate and Jack are together again, but it is not the joyous reunion/escape plan that Kate had envisioned. Instead she and Sayid are captured almost immediately and held prisoner by the Others while Jack and Juliet prepare for their return home. Yes I said it. Home. But Jack swears he'll come back for her. It's hard to tell if she buys it, though, what with her being handcuffed and held captive while he walks off with the hot blonde doctor.
Meanwhile, Locke has come to see a man about a submarine. This is not a request without serious flashbacks. While Kate and Sayid are held prisoner, Locke alternatively holds Alex and Ben hostage while trying to find out the whereabouts of the escape submarine. Ben will give up nothing without a lot of psychological probing and quasi-deep spiritual questioning -- just like Jonathan Adler in Top Design! Locke is not much for the psychoanalysis and sticks with the "nyah-nyah-nyah, I can walk and you can't" rebuttal. Locke gets his information and blows up the sub just as Jack and Juliet are about to board. They are not happy about this turn of events. Ben, however, is thrilled that Locke made his secretest wish come true. Looks like a Love Match!
Locke does not regret his decision, despite his imprisonment. Besides, he and Ben are fast becoming bestest friends, and he gets to stay on the Island forever and never has to see his evil-doing ne'er-do-well father, who pushed him out a window and broke his back, ever ever again. Well never say never on this Island, Locke, 'cause guess what? Your dad is here! Being held prisoner by the Others. Bet you wish you hadn't blown up the only way off the Island, eh Johnny Boy?
I LOVED IT!! I almost fell off the couch when I saw Locke's dad. I'm wondering if Jack was trying to tell Kate something in code when they had their scene (GREAT scene). Now do you wonder if that really was Jack's (and Claire's) dad on the island in season 1 and not a ghost? Interesting...

This was a GREAT episode. Maybe I am an over-the-top TV viewer but last night was one of those jump-out-of-you-seat-and-scream episodes. I agree that at first it seemed that there was some code between Jack and Kate. I think Locke's father was the original Sawyer. I loved when Locke told Benry that the box better be big enough for a new submarine! Haha! I didn't mind that we had to wait this long for the answers. It was SO worth it!
ReplyDeleteregarding the last episode...
ReplyDeletesome Internet rumblings :
Why was John soaking wet after placing the C4 charge on the sub? When last we saw him he was inside the sub - why did he end up in the water? Is it even significant?
"Anthony Cooper, Adam Seward" (Locke's father's 2 names in the flashback) is an anagram for "Sawyer, the con man, a poor dad". The prevailing theory out there is that Locke's father is the real Sawyer, the one who conned our Sawyer's parents, who then both died as a result.
In Sawyer's prison flashback, he mentions having been in Tallahassee - looking for the real Sawyer, perhaps?
Locke fell 8 stories and was paralyzed for 4 years. And speaking of the numbers, in the episode where Hurley is in the institution ("Numbers"), this is what Leonard tells him after finding out that Hurley used the numbers in the lottery: "Well, you shouldn't have done that. You've opened the box."
speaking of boxes...I'm not sure if we've had confirmation of this yet, but its seems that Hurley was definitely the owner of the box company that John worked for. In "Numbers", Hurley is told, "you are now the majority shareholder in a box company in Tustin." Locke's address in The Man From Tallahassee is 168 San Juan St, Tustin, California.
finally, when Locke is hiding in the closet with Alex... Ben gives the order to "bring in Tallahassee" and John askes what that is code for ...seems it was code for " bring in John's dad "
Hay, first time blogger. Anyway, loved the last couple Lost episodes. I feel the show is hitting its stride finally this season. I know there a lot of people that complain about how its not as good as it use to be, but I say its still worth watching and I can only think of a hand full of other shows on TV right now that are even close to the quality you get from Lost. Anyway I wanted to bring up a couple things I got from this last episode and from the previous one too. First about the sonic fence, anyone else think its really there to keep the smoke monster out of the others living area? Also, did John forget about the sail boat. Yes he blew up the sub but the others still have the sail boat, plus they have the boat they took Ban, Jack and the others over from the small island back to there living area. So there no all stuck there. And the last thought is a long shot, but I'm thinking Jacob is in control of the smoke monster or connected to it, and thats how the know so much about everyone. It reads peoeple and decides if they should live or die. Again a long shot.
ReplyDeletePeace out,
