It’s Alaska Week on the Discovery Channel, and what better way to kick it off than with a brand new episode of Dirty Jobs! Unfortunately, my dream crossover episode of Dirty Jobs and the Deadliest Catch did not happen, but we did get the next best thing. Okay, the next, next best thing, as Mike already narrates Deadliest Catch. Instead, this week Mike and the crew get some first hand experience cod fishing in the Bering Sea. And, it may not be as glamorous a job as catching crab, but as Mike puts it best, “Wherever there is danger, there is always dirt.” Oh boy is there dirt.

And while this episode isn’t traditionally dirty, I am still thankful that technology has not advanced to the point where we have smell-o-vision. This episode, all about New York, tackles the building and installing of water towers and the glamorous world of elevator repair.

Just two weeks to go before new episodes of Dirty Jobs begin on their new day, Monday’s, still at 9pm. Until then we’ll have to content ourselves with the repeats. But, since this is Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe, it shouldn’t be too hard to do. In last night’s episode, Mike finds out the hurricane barriers need cleaning too and that bell making requires only the purest of pooh.
