This week was all about the Rumba and the Jive. Our couples mixed it up a little, and some continues to showcase their wonderful dancing skills each week, while some need to be put out of their misery already. How did our couples do this week? Let’s take a look.

    Ty Murray and Chelsie
    Dancing the Jive
Judgment: All three judges gave him a six. Carrie Ann went on to remark that he’s adorable, but it was very hard to watch. I agree with her. The cowboy has lost some of his moves and he looks so confused while he’s out there on the dance floor. Bless his heart, it’s cute, but not dance-tastic, which is why the judges gave him straight 6s.

    Shawn Johnson and Mark
    Dancing the Rumba
Judgment: Shawn once again brought out a little of her athleticism and dazzled with many beautiful moves. It was very romanticized and dramatic for one so young, which was impressive, but almost a little unnerving, simply because she is still so young. But overall, it was beautiful, and her scores were well deserved. Carrie Ann gave her an 8, while Len and Bruno gave her 9s.

    Lawrence Taylor and Edyta
    Dancing the Jive
Judgment: He’s trying really hard, and it shows. He showed definite improvement over last week, though he still has some stuff to work on. He needs to work on his movements and become more light on his feet in order to execute the moves. At least he’s getting better. Carrie Ann and Len gave him 7s, while Bruno gave him an 8.

    Melissa Rycroft and Tony
    Dancing the Rumba
Judgment: Melissa is stuck in her ballet-moves sometimes, and her form often takes the shape of ballet-reminiscent action. So if she really wants to move forward and distinguish herself further, she should look to get away from ballet. Nevertheless, she pulled out a beautiful dance that was much better than last week’s dance. Her performance merited straight 9s.

    Lil Kim and Derek
    Dancing the Jive
Judgment: This was, by far, the most fun dance of the night. That dress didn’t cover much and kept slipping down, so there was the added bonus of the “almost falling oh no is it going to whoa no stayed up.” It was a fun dance and she proved that she’s one of the front runners. Carrie Ann and Bruno gave her two well-deserved 10s, while Len gave her an 8 in the ‘wtf?’ of the night.

    Steve-O and Lacey
    Dancing the Rumba
Judgment: Steve-O continues to hover right at the bottom. He’s stuck where he is. He isn’t really making marked improvement each week. Sometimes, there are glimpses of potential, but mostly he’s just flailing around trying to footing on a dance floor that is completely not his element. I appreciate him trying, but it’s not enough at this point. Carrie Ann was the nice one, giving him a generous 7. I’m with Len and Bruno, who gave him a 4 and 5.

    Gilles Marini and Cheryl
    Dancing the Jive
Judgment: This week, Gilles wasn’t able to rely on his sexiness and passion, and had to be able to dance a more intricate dance that traditionally a lot more fun that sensual. He pulled it off, kinda sorta, but he definitely didn’t do as well as he has in past weeks. He tried to get out of his mold, but he lost the beat a couple of times, a huge pet peeve of the former band geek. Still, he managed to get 9s from Carrie Ann and Bruno, and an 8 from Len.

    Chuck Wicks and Julianne
    Dancing the Rumba
Judgment: The real life couple is chock full of chemistry, so they get that part of the Rumba without even trying. They were sexy, sultry, and their chemistry was the kind you get when you mix baking soda and vinegar. But their footwork, oh their footwork. They have a little ways to go still before they’re absolutely as brilliant as they could be. Still, Chuck continues to show glimpses of greatness. Carrie Ann and Bruno gave him 8s, while Len gave him a 7.

So, there’s the roundup of this week’s dancing episode. I peg Ty and Steve-O as the bottom two. Their scores are so low that I can’t see their fans helping them. What did you think? Who was awesome, and who did you hate? Share your TwoCents.
