At the end of last week’s episode, Larry Moss and his squad were at a standoff with Hodges’ goons with guns. And Jack Bauer has been infected by the pathogen that Larry is looking for. There are only 8 episodes left… so Jack had better be thinking about shaking off that killer pathogen soon. Sheesh!

Jonas decides to confront Larry and the gang personally. He tells Larry that he has to release Greg and leave the premises in 5 minutes or he will open fire. Jack figures out that a man at Starkwood named Knowles may not be happy with Hodges’ plan from information retrieved from the late Senator Mayer’s files. We know that Knowles is the guy that had questioned Jonas’ ideas in a Board meeting previously. Jack calls Knowles and he acknowledges that he isn’t happy with the current situation at all.

    12:07

Jack asks Larry to create a diversion that will allow Tony to stay behind. Larry agrees, and punches Greg before releasing him. Tony takes advantage of the diversion and sneaks back in the hangar. Then Larry marches his troops back in their copters and takes off. Tony meets up with Knowles and they proceed to where he believes the weapons to be. Jack is starting to show signs of the infection as his hand starts shaking.

    12:15

Jack calls President Taylor to update her on Starkwood. She asks Jack to personally verify that the canisters are the correct ones with his own eyes. Then she privately wishes him well and tells him that she’s not giving up on him and his newly acquired disease. Ken calls Olivia and tells her that he’s heard about the WMD’s and wants the story. He threatens that if she doesn’t talk, he will tell the President how she helped oust Ethan unfairly. She agrees to meet him in half an hour. Knowles causes a diversion of his own to allow Tony to make it in one of the buildings. Back at FBI headquarters, Jack collapses and starts seizing! (Yipe).

    12:27

Aaron escorts Olivia to Ken’s hotel. Olivia tells Ken the truth about everything but asks him to kill the story. He said that he will if she agrees to ‘convince’ him not to. (Apparently they have a history). Jack gets a shot to help him with his shaking and seizing, plus some backups to carry with him that he will need. The doctor tells him that there are some experimental drugs using stem cells that may help to cure his condition. She tells him that they could retrieve the stem cells from his daughter, but he tells her that he doesn’t want Kim involved in this. Renee follows him and hits him with the “are you crazy” talk. He tells her that it’s his life and his choice. Back at Starkwood, Tony disarms two soldiers to get their gear.

    12:40

Tony ends up in an elevator with the lead scientist working on the WMD for Hodges and sees papers that suggest it. Tony sees the weapon and photographs it. After Jack confirms that it is in fact the weapon, he tells Tony to leave since they are planning an air strike. Hodges meets up with Knowles, who has been detained. Jonas tells him that he has the weapon and will use it because he feels that America is backing away from the same company that helped keep it safe. He tells Knowles he’s disappointed with him, then bashes him several times with a bottle and tosses him over the railing with a two-story drop. (I guess he WAS upset). Greg calls him and tells him that F-18’s are on their way. He also tells him that 3 of the rockets are ready. Jonas tells him to get the President on the line.

    12:51

Olivia climbs out of bed in a true Angel of the Morning moment. Afterward Ken tells Olivia that he will still run the story. However, she shows him that she recorded their little roll in the hay. She tells him that she will show everyone (including his wife) if he doesn’t drop the story, then leaves. Jonas calls in to the President with the ultimatum. He wants her to call off the planes so they can meet at the White House to discuss his demands. If not, he will have no choice but to launch the missiles. She issues the abort order and the jets comply. She then walks speechless out of the operations room.

This episode certainly ramped up from last week. I thought for sure that Tony was going to die. Is there anything more annoying than a character thought dead coming back, only to die again? I hope they don’t do that. They also really wanted to highlight how kookoo Jonas was and I thought they did well there. I’ve heard mixed reviews about Cherry Jones’ portrayal as the President. Personally, I think she’s doing great. I think she is much more plausible than Wayne Palmer, if not Charles Logan as well. Of course, I don’t see anyone out-doing Dennis Haybert’s David Palmer. MAYBE Jack Bauer. So what did YOU think about all of this? Who is your favorite President?
