Well, well, well. What is this I see? Heroes actually entertaining for an hour? I’m kidding of course; if there’s one thing the show has never faltered on, it’s being entertaining. The problem comes with trying to make everything connect so that the whole story makes sense and we’re not left feeling like we just wasted an hour of our time. So how did it do this week? Let’s see.

Let’s see.

Claire is standing in her kitchen where Doyle the Puppet master is eating popcorn. (Seriously, I could have sworn Sylar killed him, unless there have been so many jumps through time it didn’t stick.) He says that Rebel sent him for Claire’s protection but she refuses, remembering all too well what he did to her, Meredith and Sandra. He says he’s not the same man; he just wants to go back to when things were normal and he was a puppeteer. He even leaves without causing much of a scene. Later, Claire wonders if she did the right thing and Sandra doesn’t even flinch when her daughter says she wants to get a job at the comic book store as a cover. Of course, all the nerd boys rejoice, but she soon gets a text saying that Doyle is in trouble and needs help. She does what her little heart of gold tells her she should but it also means that her free pass is up and agents descend upon the house to swoop her up. Mysteriously though, she’s not there. (Where did she get the resources to provide new identities for these people, anyway?)

The tension between Nathan and Danko is high. Danko is starting to realize that something isn’t quite right about Nathan getting from place to place so gosh darn quick, especially when his plan to blow up Matt in D.C. is foiled by the Senator. Soon he gets his hands on the tape of Tracy screaming that Nathan ‘is one of us!’ and he has some serious questions for the Ice Queen. Nathan talks to her first, telling her that he is her only hope, just moments after she’s read a message on a t.v. monitor that she shouldn’t lose hope. Coincidence? When Danko tries to question her about Nathan having an ability, she claims to not know what he’s talking about. Noah warns Nathan that Danko is going to try and manipulate him but Nathan’s amazingly cocky about the whole situation. Meanwhile, Danko pays a visit to Angela Petrelli during her lunch, but as she coolly eats oysters, she makes it obvious that she has dirt on him from a botched mission in Angola. Frustrated and now fired thanks to an order from the President, Danko confronts Nathan and shoots out a window, pushing him through it. Of course Nathan flies, and now the cat is out of the bag. Nathan flies directly to Claire’s and together they watch as Danko’s team looks for her.

And now, finally, we’re getting to the root of Sylar’s daddy issues. The man is dying of lung cancer and can hardly breathe on his own, and Sylar looks justifiably shocked that the man is so damn weak. There are life lessons exchanged, most pointedly about how Sylar gets his powers from weak people who don’t even have the chance to fight him back. It’s not even a fair fight which doesn’t make him powerful, it makes him a coward. They taxidermy a rabbit together and Papa Gray finds out about Sylar’s healing power. In an attempt to gain that ability so that he might live forever and get a second chance, he tries to use his strange whistling telekinetic power on his son. Of course, Sylar is better than that and escapes with the taxidermied rabbit, but not before promising his father that he will die: slow and painfully from lung cancer. He heads to Danko’s place and puts the rabbit right where he can see it as he waits silently for what I hope to be an awesome fight scene.

To wrap things up, Hiro and Ando head to Matt Parkman’s home to save him from danger. I honestly groaned just a tiny bit when those two were suddenly on screen. I’d actually forgotten about them. Anyway, a teenage brat thrusts a baby at them before leaving, saying the babysitting service she works for sucks. Turns out, this is Matt’s supposed illegitimate child who is, apparently, not so illegitimate. Surprise!! And how fortunate that you didn’t even miss Father’s Day!

How do you feel about this? At one point I was convinced that Angela was Rebel, now I’m thinking she works in tandem with Nathan. Or is it Nathan alone? Were you excited or apprehensive like I was to see Hiro and Ando again? And how amazing is it that Sylar’s whole ‘going to find my dad for answers’ story line is FINALLY over with? I vote for an epic show down and for Danko to have an ability of his own. I’d love to hear your opinions, so leave your Two Cents in the comments! I’ll see you back here in two weeks for the next new episode!

  2. Where do we know Sylar's daddy from? I swear he looked so familiar to me ... But yeah, very happy that is done and over with!

I'm waiting for Danko to be offed. Soon please. Hopefully Skylar and his stuffed bunny will remedy that in the next episode!

Hubs pipped up with "I NEW he was Rebel!" I'm still not convinced. He may have been Rebel, but Angela is involved somewhere in there.

Happy to see Tracy back! I always liked her.
