JD’s dad is super nutso. Landry rebounds with a lesbian. Street is ready to sell the house and make millions and Buddy is bonding with his kids – the other ones that disappeared last season. And we say good bye to another Panther vet. It’s a tear-jerker this week!
Billy and Street have a heart-to-heart where Billy shows Jason another Letter of Interest in Tim from a college. Kudos to Scott Porter for looking devastated and jealous with just one quick pan of the camera. And kudos to Street for rallying and helping Billy make a demo reel of Tim’s moves (the ones on the field, that is).
Principal Taylor needs to discipline a kid named Jamarcus because he lit a girl’s hair on fire – and it sounds like it’s not the first time. Whatever happened to pulling pigtails in the sandbox? Oh well the real news comes when she calls in his parents and mentions if this happens again Jamarcus will be suspended and unable to play football. Turns out his parents didn’t even know he was on the team and they don’t approve of the old pigskin. Now Eric is left without a starting Fullback which, judging by his freak-out is not good. Coach Taylor and Principal Taylor convince the parents to let him play Friday and to come and see that football is more than a stupid game. They reluctantly agree.
At this point there is still no Julie or Matt which is kinda annoying because they’re storyline was so huge last week, what with the campfire nooky and possible reunification.
But since we’re talking about relationships, Landry is still all emo-kid over Tyra but the new band member is trying her best to pull him out of the Bell Jar. When she kisses him playfully on the side of the head Landry gets over Tyra instantly and returns the kiss later on. Then he proceeds to march right over to Appleby’s and tell Tyra how happy he is that they’re not together. He even calls Band Girl his girlfriend. When did Landry turn into such a pathetic weirdo?
Buddy is trying to bond with his kids, who have flown in from Northern California where they’ve become vegan, brats. They pick on Buddy for everything from his sweatiness to his choice of food to everything. Buddy finally loses it on them and throws their steak dinner into the woods on their camping trip. If Buddy is tossing meat you know it’s serious. The two brats – Buddy Jr. and Tabitha don’t seem to have any remorse for how they’re treating their dad and it’s really bad. It’s the first time I’ve ever felt bad for Buddy Garrity.
Still no Matt and Julie.
Landry hits on Band Girl Devyn again, asking her out but just as it seemed when he kissed her, she is so not interested. She’s a lesbian. Whoa! I didn’t see that coming. Cool, at least now Landry isn’t being rejected for just being Landry. I do have to say although he freaked out at the news he still handled it better than I would think most small town teenage boys would take it. He takes it personally – like only Landry can – and asks Principal Taylor if he has a girl repellent. Tami tells him that he’ll be a girl magnet as soon as he gets out of Dillon. She fails to mention he needs to stop being such a moody weirdo.
Still no Matt or Julie. Now I’m getting worried. If I hadn’t seen them leave the lake last episode I would have thought that they were attacked by a serial killer.
The Boob Squad – Herc, Street, Billy and Tim decide to forgo a realtor and try and sell the house by themselves. They then proceed to fight with each other – physically – at the open house because everyone thinks Jason priced the house too high.
Street goes to the Friday Night football game and runs into a dude he used to play against and his agent. The agent explains that he is an ex player who didn’t have it to go pro so he became an agent. Ding! Ding! Ding! You can see the light bulb above Street’s head. He also gets an offer on the house!
During the game JD has a lot of trouble completing passes and his dad is going nuts in the stand, then he keeps JD from the locker room until Coach Taylor intervenes and tells Crazy Joe McCoy where to go. Seriously this idiot makes Buddy Garrity look like a cheerleader. Eric tells JD he’s not allowed to look at his father while on the field and that he won’t even tell him the plays. He tells him he has confidence in him. And JD makes it happen! Which is great because the backup QB – Saracen – is still MIA! Ugh!
Buddy’s bratty kids seem to ease up a little and remember their football roots. Jamarcus’ parents are proud of their football playing son! But Joe McCoy throws a princess-sized hissy fit and doesn’t stick around to tell his son how good he did. JD is devastated.
Back at the about-to-be-sold house, Lyla shows up in time to see the debut of the Tim Riggins Demo reel. It’s an incredible tape with the coach giving an interview about what makes Tim unique and Billy commenting on his favourite moment watching his brother play. It really made me tear up. Tim Riggins is going to go to college! Woot! Woot!
We end on Lyla and Street having a heart-to-heart. Street wants to know if she thinks he came make it somewhere other than Dillon. She starts to cry. She knows he’s leaving. But she tells him he’d make a great sports agent and he admits he’s going to New York to start a new life.
Good Bye and Good Luck, Six. You will be missed.
Best Dialogue this Friday Night:
Street: Quit being a baby, Grows some balls.
Herc: Ever since I lost my legs I’m a little more careful about my balls.
So do you think that Street will make it in the Big Apple? Will Tim screw up his college chances? Will the writers stop torturing us and give us some Matt and Julie next episode?
