It is the season of the injury on “Dancing With The Stars.” First Jewel and Nancy O’Dell were sidelined before the season started. This episode brought us more injuries. Steve-O didn’t even show, having been sent to the hospital, and the Woz danced with a bum knee and a busted foot. But our stars danced on, this week showing off their footwork and their precision with the Quickstep and the Salsa. So, who has the moves and who needs to move away? Let’s recap.

Star: Holly Madison (professional Girl Next Door)
    Partner: Dmitri Chaplan
    Dancing: the Quickstep
    Len: 6
    Bruno: 6
    Carrie Ann: 6
My rating: 6. Even though I’ve loved Holly since The Girls Next Door, it was a mess. It was like watching jelly being thrown across the dance floor at high speed.

    Star: David Alan Grier
    Partner: Kym Johnson
    Dancing: the Salsa
    Len: 5
    Bruno: 6
    Carrie Ann: 6
My rating: 5. His footwork was okay, but his timing was a little off (former band geek here, so that really got me.) He didn’t really have the salsa hips going on, either.

    Star: Denise Richards (actress)
    Partner: Maksim Chmerkovskiy
    Dancing: the Quickstep
    Len: 7
    Bruno: 7
    Carrie Ann: 7
My rating: 7. There were a couple of moments of botched footwork, but it was really elegant and fun. She definitely improved.

Star: Belinda Carlisle (from the Go-Gos)
    Partner: Jonathan Roberts
    Dancing: the Salsa
    Len: 6
    Bruno: 6
    Carrie Ann: 6
My rating: 7. That dip was a little messy, but you can’t argue with the inclusion of some classic Go-Go moves. It was fun and enjoyable for me.

Star: Ty Murray (cowboy and Rodeo champion)
    Partner: Chelsie Hightower
    Dancing: the Quickstep
    Len: 6
    Bruno: 7
    Carrie Ann: 7
My rating: 7. It was smooth and cool. It was obviously a vast improvement over last week; I think his rodeo training helped him. He doesn’t have the same problem others are having: upper body control.

Star: Shawn Johnson (Olympic gold medalist)
    Partner: Mark Ballas
    Dancing: the Salsa
    Len: 8
    Bruno: 8
    Carrie Ann: 8
My rating: 8. They are taking advantage of her athleticism and gymnastics background with some of those moves, particularly the kicks.

Star: Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple)
    Partner: Karina Smirnoff
    Dancing: the Quickstep
    Len: 5
    Bruno: 6
    Carrie Ann: 6
My rating: 7. Bruno said Steve is like Wall-E, broken and falling apart, while also cute and charming and it is so very true. Call it the inner (and outer) geek in me, but I love the Woz on this show. He’s entertaining and funny, and he’s trying his hardest.

    Star: Chuck Wicks (country star)
    Partner: Julianne Hough
    Dancing: the Salsa
    Len: 7
    Bruno: 7
    Carrie Ann: 6
My rating: 6. Cowboy needs to stick to line dancing, in my opinion.

    Star: Lawrence Taylor (football player)
    Partner: Edyta Sliwinska
    Dancing: the Salsa
    Len: 6
    Bruno: 7
    Carrie Ann: 7
My rating: 7. He really improved from last week and gave a great performance. I’m really impressed.

Steve-O was set to perform here, but he injured his back, and didn’t perform this week. Considering some of the things this guy has done before, if he cringes and looks in pain, it must be serious. His scores are based on his performance in dress rehearsal.

    Star: Steve-O (professional Jackass)
    Partner: Lacey Schwimmer
    Dancing: the Salsa
    Len: 4
    Bruno: 5
    Carrie Ann: 5
My rating: 6. His dress rehearsal performance was pretty good to me. They were pretty cool goofing off and I enjoyed myself. I think they were unnecessarily critical of the choreography.

    Star: Lil Kim (rapper)
    Partner: Derek Hough
    Dancing: the Quickstep
    Len: 7
    Bruno: 8
    Carrie Ann: 8
My rating: 8. Lil Kim is proving to be a contender. Her dance was beautiful and quite fabulous. She was shining brighter at the end than her massive bling.

    Star: Melissa Rycroft (Bachelor reject)
    Partner: Tony Dovolani
    Dancing: the Salsa
    Len: 8
    Bruno: 9
    Carrie Ann: 9
My rating: 9. Her hair was wild and atrocious, but her salsa was overall pretty cool. There were some crazy wild moves in there that helped set this salsa apart from all the others. Last minute replacement Melissa is the one to watch out for with her dual nines (first of the season, holla.)

    Star: Gilles Marini (actor)
    Partner: Cheryl Burke
    Dancing: the Quickstep
    Len: 9
    Bruno: 9
    Carrie Ann: 9
My rating: 9. 3 Doors Down “Kryptonite,” was a poor song choice, in my opinion, but I appreciate Gilles’s Clark Kent glasses and the pseudo-Superman costume under his suit. Other than the poor song, it was a great dance. He’s making the ladies swoon and giving great performances at the same time. He’s the leader of the pack, with three straight nines!

My Favorite Quotes of the Week (It’s a Bruno week):
Sit down, Bruno. – Carrie Ann, describing how we all feel about the energetic judge
I want you to be naughty, a lot more naughty and flirtatious. – Bruno, to seventeen-year-old Shawn Johnson
We all know what Bruno wants. – Chuck

So, tomorrow is the first elimination. Gilles is the leader of the pack, and Steve Wozniak is at the bottom. Who’s charmed you, and who leaves something to be desired? Who do you think will be going home this week and who would you like to see go home? Internet-penny for your “Dancing” thoughts.
