  1. The first episode of the eighth season was all about the Waltz and the Cha Cha. We got introduced to our stars for the season, everyone from actresses to rappers to professional gymnasts and genius nerds. All in all, it was a lot of fun to see our judges and dancers back, along with some familiar celebrity faces. So how did they do?

    Star: Lil Kim (rapper)
    Partner: Derek Hough
    Dancing: the Cha Cha Cha
    Len: 7
    Bruno: 7
    Carrie Ann: 7
My rating: Guess what? I’ll go with the judges. 7

Star: Belinda Carlisle (from the Go-Gos)
    Partner: Jonathan Roberts
    Dancing: the Waltz
    Len: 6
    Bruno: 5
    Carrie Ann: 6
My rating: I give her a 7. It was her first time and I love the Go-Gos. I’m feeling a little lenient.

    Star: Lawrence Taylor (football player)
    Partner: Edyta Sliwinska
    Dancing: the Cha Cha Cha
    Len: 5
    Bruno: 5
    Carrie Ann: 6
My rating: That was awkward, but I applaud his effort and he seemed like he was having fun. 6

    Star: Steve-O (professional Jackass)
    Partner: Lacey Schwimmer
    Dancing: the Waltz
    Len: 5
    Bruno: 6
    Carrie Ann: 6
My rating: He was really awkward and aware that his friends were probably laughing at him.

    Star: Gilles Marini (actor)
    Partner: Cheryl Burke
    Dancing: the Cha Cha Cha
    Len: 8
    Bruno: 8
    Carrie Ann: *giggling* 8
My rating: 8. This heartthrob already has some smooth moves and a really cute son.

    Star: Chuck Wicks (country star)
    Partner: Julianne Hough
    Dancing: the Waltz
    Len: 7
    Bruno: 7
    Carrie Ann: 6
My rating: 6. They were really cute, but he was really stiff.

Star: Holly Madison (professional Girl Next Door)
    Partner: Dmitri Chaplan
    Dancing: the Cha Cha Cha
    Len: 6
    Bruno: 6
    Carrie Ann: 6
My rating: 6. My favorite Girl Next Door, but you can tell she only had a week after replacing Jewel at the last minute.

Star: Ty Murray (cowboy and Rodeo champion)
    Partner: Chelsie Hightower
    Dancing: the Cha Cha Cha
    Len: 4
    Bruno: 5
    Carrie Ann: 5
My rating: 5. He looked totally out of his element, but in a cute geeky way.

Star: Shawn Johnson (Olympic gold medalist)
    Partner: Mark Ballas
    Dancing: the Waltz
    Len: 8
    Bruno: 7
    Carrie Ann: 8
My rating: 8. This is a long way away from her gold-winning time in the Olympics, but I was really impressed. The seventeen-year-old did better than some of the older women.

Star: Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple)
    Partner: Karina Smirnoff
    Dancing: the Cha Cha Cha
    Len: 4
    Bruno: 4
    Carrie Ann: 5
My rating: 7. The Woz (as Kathy Griffin calls him) wanted to prove that nerds can dance, but this nerd still has her doubts. Somewhere, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are laughing their respective asses off.

    Star: David Alan Grier (actor)
    Partner: Kym Johnson
    Dancing: the Waltz
    Len: 7
    Bruno: 6
    Carrie Ann: 6
My rating: 8. This self-professed comic genius did a wonderful first dance.

    Star: Denise Richards (actress)
    Partner: Maksim Chmerkovskiy
    Dancing: the Cha Cha Cha
    Len: 6
    Bruno: 6
    Carrie Ann: 6
My rating: 7. She had some moves already, and it was very entertaining.

Star: Melissa Rycroft (rejected by the Bachelor last week)
    Partner: Tony Dovolani
    Dancing: the Waltz
    Len: 7
    Bruno: 8
    Carrie Ann: 8
My rating: 8. I cut her a lot of slack because she only had two days to prepare after replacing Nancy O’Dell at literally the last possible moment. But even with slack, I thought she did a wonderful job. Universally agreed that it was the Bachelor’s loss.

    Favorite quote:
“I’m very Caucasian.”– Steve-O, on his problems dancing

So, what did you think? Who impressed you? Who do you want to go home after this week’s dance-off? Any favorite moments? Feel free to share.
