Dr. Cox and Dr. Kelso are friends now, which creeps some people out (myself and Dr. Cox included). Over beers in Kelso’s garden, Bob offers a word of advice (or, perhaps warning) about the job of Chief of Medicine: Perry may think he won’t forget what really matters, but after being stuck in that office all day, he’ll be so overwhelmed by red tape that he’ll want to gouge his eyes out. Perry disagrees. Let’s see how long that lasts.

  1. Dr.

Meanwhile, Elliot is contradicted by a nurse. Bad move. The two go to Carla to settle the dispute and Carla sides with Elliot. This action is just another nail in the coffin that is “the nurses are really starting to resent Carla.” She socializes with doctors, she is married to a doctor, her best friend is a doctor, you get the picture. The nurses decide to give Carla one more chance. If she can get her girlfriend Dr. Cox to hire some new nurses so they don’t have to work forced overtime, they’ll stop hating her so much.

On the other side of the hospital, JD is working with a patient who has pneumonia. JD loves this guy (Mr. Vaughn) and will do anything to make him happy and comfortable. Mr. Vaughn lives alone and doesn’t have any friends or family. If they can just keep him at the hospital long enough to recover and get back on his feet, he’ll be just fine. Too bad his insurance won’t pay for any more hospital time.

In The Chief’s office, Perry is getting ready to gouge his eyes out. Janitor his been pestering him with the hanging of a photo of Sacred Heart, slowly torturing him out of jealousy. Add to that mounds of paperwork and phone calls to board members, Perry hasn’t been out with patients or made an intern cry in over 24 hours. When Carla comes in to ask about hiring new nurses, he’s at his wits end and tells her that his hands are tied and can’t help her. And when JD asks him to pull some string in Mr. Vaughn’s case, he completely blows up and kicks him out of the office.

Dr. Kelso and Elliot decides to flit around the hospital to clean up some of the fallout from Perry’s first day as Chief. Kelso tells JD to keep pestering Perry about Mr. Vaughn. He’ll hate him for it, but those are the new roles they have both stepped into. Elliot goes to the nurses to talk to them about how they are treating Carla. She says she knows they frustrated about the situation but are taking it out on Carla. She suggests that Carla is a nurse first and that they should use her relationships as a starting point for a dialogue to make things better.

Well, the nurses start being nicer to Carla and Dr. Cox gets the hospital to keep Mr. Vaughn. So everybody’s happy, right? Nope. Dr. Cox is miserable in his new role. Let’s see how long that lasts.

What do YOU think? How did you like the Always/Sometimes/Never-Ever list on Dr. Cox’s door. Have you ever Photoshoped yourself? Give us your Two Cents… We’ll buy Perry a beer.
