JD and Turk are in charge of Sacred Heart’s Annual Intern Sketch Show roasting the Sr. Staff this year. Yeah, that’s going to turn out well. The show has not been funny for 8 years, and JD and Turk are determined to make it good. As Turk puts it, he is "known as The Black Wayne Brady." Nice.

ReplyDeleteSpeaking of interns, Denise/Jo is really working on her bedside manner. In fact, she even used incubator to warm up bedpan for a patient. But her social skills are still lacking. In fact, every night she is invited to go out with the other interns but always makes up an excuse. Elliot notices this pattern and tells Denise/Jo that unless she blows off some steam, the hospital will crush her. Denise/Jo promises to go out the next night and goes to work on 16 year-old Brianna who has a condition that periodically shuts her immune system down. In essence, she almost dies once a month or so.
Elsewhere in the hospital, Carla finds the unspeakable. So unspeakable, in fact, I’m having a hard time typing. It is a long, gray hair on her “baby feeder.” Nasty. The main problem isn’t the hair, but that Janitor and Dr. Kelso see her pluck it. Nastier.
Back to the Sketch Show, the interns are divided up and Denise/Jo is paired with Sunny Day. Yep... That’s her name. Anyway, the two don’t have time to rehearse because they are both helping Brianna through her latest ailment. Brianna laments that her mom is too over-protective and never lets her leave the house. She thinks her mom is so freaked out about her dying that she won’t let her have a life. Sunny and Denise/Jo ask Elliot to speak with the mother about the situation.
Janitor confronts Carla and tells her that he saw her pluck the scary hair. Carla denies it even happened, saying that the two didn’t even see each other that day. Maybe Janitor is imagining things... like the time he thought he built a sandcastle in the parking lot? Did he really do that? Carla plants a seed of doubt in Janitor’s mind
Seriously, back to the Sketch Show, Sunny and Jo (who happen to be playing Turk and JD) don’t show up for rehearsal and barely show up in time for the performance itself. After Jimmy the Overly-Touchy Orderly does some impressions, the two start making out as JD and Turk. “It’s funny cause it’s true...” in a way. Turk and JD have a bromance, yes, but the whole hospital isn’t aware of it, are they? Indeed they are!
So Elliot tells Denise/Jo that she didn’t talk to Brianna’s mom and tells her an Sunny not to bug her, either. It’s “none of our business.” But she is smothering her kid! Denise/Jo decode (with some help from Carla) to talk to the mother, who then proceeds to rip the interns a new one. They have no idea what it’s like to have a daughter who risks death every time she shakes a hand. Just like she told Dr. Reed, she doesn’t care what they think. Wait? Elliot DID talk to her? Yep. She wanted that mother to rip into Denise/Jo to prove a point: everyone deserves to live their life, including Brianna AND Denise/Jo. If she doesn’t get out of the hospital sometimes, she’ll be eaten alive.
At the coffee shop, Janitor goes to Bob to verify the chest hair situation. After a hilarious conversation with his muffin, Bob tells Janitor that he is crazy and nothing happened (as per Carla’s request). Maybe Janitor did imagine it all. He starts to doubt everything (“Maybe I wasn’t in The Fugitive.”) and goes to Carla to apologize. Too easy. But Carla gets away with it.
JD and Turk Have been avoiding each other ever since to embarrassing Sketch Show. They think that they should tone-down the bromance feelings while in the hospital. But then Turk finds out that a paper of his is getting published and JD can’t help but hug him (to a reprise of “Guy Love” from the musical episode). And that’s OK.
So the interns think they know it all, but the lessons never stop coming. Elliot shared with Denise/Jo lessons she learned as an intern, JD and Turk learn that they can’t fight the bromance, and Carla learns that if you pretend it never happened it works!
What do YOU think? How awesome was that Sketch Show? Is Denise/Jo growing on you as much as she is me? Do you have a bromance? Give us your Two Cents… It will buy our silence.
