This week on My Name is Earl, we learned several things. Darnell’s in witness protection, Erik Estrada should really have his own show (again) and Randy is a hell of an opera singer. But first, an exasperated Joy walks in to a trailer that looks like “Santa got shot down over Baghdad” because Darnell fell asleep watching C-Span with the front door open, and kids wandered in. It could happen to anyone.

Meanwhile, Randy can’t find anything on TV until he comes across a rerun of CHIPs. But only, it isn’t CHIPs, it’s Erik Estrada’s new game show Estrada or Nada, in which contestants can challenge him to anything. Auditions are coming to Camden County, so Earl decides to cross off list item #31: “Ruined Joy’s chance of being on TV.”

Years ago, Joy made an audition tape for Fear Factor, but Earl shot it to pieces and then lied about sending it in. But when Earl goes to see Joy, she tells him she gave up on being famous because her failure to get on Fear Factor was the last straw. But Joy realizes she still wants fame, so she tells Earl he has to get her on the show.

After Randy practices his opera singing, they find out that the show is only seeing 300 people, so Joy threatens Randy so he’ll give her his number. In exchange for the number, Randy gets to pick a list item, and Randy picks #182: “played tetherball with Randy’s face.” Finally, Brian Dunkleman (who is not dead, as I previously may have assumed), announces that it’s Joy’s turn. After she gets rejected, Joy does what some of us may want to do and beats up Brian Dunkleman. Darnell goes onstage and stops her, accidentally breaking his witness protection cover. Darnell destroys his hair phone, and Joy refuses to move. Suddenly, Earl and Randy wake up in the trailer with syringes in their necks, and Joy and Darnell are nowhere to be seen.

I liked this episode a lot, especially Darnell’s hair phone and Randy’s opera singing. So far the new episodes have been great, and I’m excited to see what happens to Brian Dunkleman (and Joy) next week. What did you all think? Leave your Two Cents in the comments!
