Where is the best place to go to see how your friends from high school are doing? Okay, I’m sure most of you are going to say Facebook or MySpace, but to see all of them in one place, in person – you go to your high school reunion. Some people are excited to go back for their reunions. Others dread them and just don’t go. Me? I didn’t go. You know who went to her's? Liz Lemon.

Where is the best place to go to see how your friends from high school are doing? Okay, I’m sure most of you are going to say Facebook or MySpace, but to see all of them in one place, in person – you go to your high school reunion. Some people are excited to go back for the their reunions. Others dread them and just don’t go. Me? I didn’t go. You know who went to hers? Liz Lemon.

Liz refuses to go to her high school reunion, but Jack talks her into going. After Jack learns that don Geis has woken up from his coma and is going to stay the CEO of GE, Jack feels the need to blow off some steam by flying down to Miami. He tells Liz he will drop Liz off at her high school reunion in Philadelphia in a private jet. When they get there, the weather is so bad that Jack can’t leave for Miami. Jack then learns that the county they are in is dry. So he crashes Liz’s reunion for the booze and takes on the identity of Larry Braverman, one of the classmates of the reunion that one of the guys thinks Jack looks like.

Jack and Liz learn something important about Liz. Liz was afraid of going back home, because she was embarrassed of the person she was in high school. It turns out no one wants to see Liz at the reunion because she was a bully in high school. Jack actually agrees with them and confronts Liz about her need to insult people to hide her own insecurities. When the rowdies from high school want to play a prank on Liz, Jack comes to her rescue to defend her. Then when Jack’s pseudo high school flame introduces him to “their” son, Jack reveals that he is not Larry Braverman, he and Liz ditch the party for New York City. Liz comes out of it all as the winner. She goes home with a $100 gift card to Outback Steakhouse.

Back at 30 Rock, Kenneth shows up Tracy in the elevator by making everyone laugh. When Tracy forces Dotcom and Griz to laugh at his jokes in the elevator, Kenneth makes Tracy look bad a second time by humoring the people in the elevator. Tracy goes to Jenna for comfort, but Jenna soon gets the same feeling when Kenneth outdoes her in the elevator. What’s the best way to teach Kenneth a lesson? Tracy gives people a tour of the set and Jenna brings lunch to Kenneth, both jobs Kenneth usually does. Kenneth sees their point and promises to never do it again.

Overall, a very funny episode. Flashbacks of Liz in her youth are always a treat. Seeing her persuaded by food is classic – “I want to go to there.” And Kenneth was genuinely funnier in the elevator than both Tracy and Jenna. The funniest moment – the flashback of Liz on the private jet confessing to a bunch of things, like seeing her grandparents getting it on, but not leaving the room right away. I was disappointed that the writers weren’t in the episode. They always provide a great laugh. What did you think about this episode? Feel free to share your last high school reunion experience.

  2. It was nice to see Casey Novak back on TV. (I know that's not her real name.)
