A sixteen year old emancipated minor lies about her family and her background. Foreman gets a case of his very own with no help from House. Wilson is rendered useless. Again. House and Cuddy have no screen time together. The big question is, “What’d you do?” Let’s see who dunit!
Our patient is Sofia. She’s 16 and an emancipated minor. She collapses at her factory job and dang near loses a head on the guillotine-like equipment. I don’t think even House could reattach a head. I mean, if I had been decapitated, I’d want House as my doctor, but even he’s not that good.
Foreman wants to participate in a clinical trial but House won’t let him. Instead, Foreman starts to log clinic hours to tick House off, but Cuddy offers him an alternative; diagnosing on a little boy named Jonah who is puking blood. Jonah’s big brother, Evan, just thinks Jonah needs to have a good b.m. but Foreman thinks it’s more than that.
After Taub and Hadley find a bong in Sofia’s apartment, the group questions Sofia’s claim that she’s never used drugs. Sofia starts freaking out in reaction to the steroids Kutner gave her. Guess she has used the drugs after all.
Sofia lied about her parent’s death because her dad raped her and her mother did nothing. Wow, nice parenting, people. After the group diagnoses her with leukemia, they tell Sofia that she needs to call her parents to have their bone marrow tested for a transplant. Sofia refuses, of course, because if they donate marrow to save her life, she says “she’ll owe them her life”. Um…really, because I thought because they created you that you already did owe them your life. Maybe I’m wrong. Sofia would rather die than call them. Taub uses Hadley’s Huntington’s to try and convince Sofia that living a long full life is the best way to get back at her parents. Hadley tracks down Sofia’s parents but it turns out that Sofia is lying about her identity. Her dad didn’t actually rape her. House thinks she did something that was so bad she had to use rape as an excuse. He gets up in her face and says “What did you do?” Sofia cops to accidentally killing her brother because she didn’t watch him when he was in the bath. House convinces her to call her parents. There’s a tearful reunion when the parents show up.
Foreman enlists Chase and Cameron to help with his kid patient. They’re not thrilled. When Chase and Cameron can’t figure out what’s wrong with the little boy, Chase wants Foreman to bring House on the case. House won’t help Foreman. Big surprise there. Foreman has a House-like epiphany during his discussion with Cameron and Chase about big brother Evan’s taking care of Jonah since mom is single. Turns out, Evan was overdosing little Jonah on chewable vitamins causing iron overload. Jonah now has a 3 Wilma a day habit. But Jonah gets better and goes home. Foreman gets a big hug from Mom.
House consents to Foreman’s clinical trials because Foreman didn’t ask him for permission he just told House he was doing them.
Throughout the episode, Wilson just wouldn’t acknowledge House’s not dating Cuddy and that just ate House alive. And that’s all Wilson did all episode. Well, that and scrub with some soap. Robert Sean Leonard has the easiest job in the world on this show. Heck, I can scrub with soap and make it look pretty convincing too. Can I get on the show? Huh?
