This is my first 30 Rock review of this season, so to quickly recap the previous two episodes: 1) Liz interviewed with an adoption agency and Jack got his job back at NBC; 2) Liz met Oprah on an airplane and she paid a visit to TGS. I’ll have reviews about those episodes post soon, lets get to most recent release. Prior to this season, NBC had been taunting the star-studded guests to make appearances on the show. Tonight’s show had Jennifer Aniston playing Liz and Jenna’s wild and crazy friend from Chicago. You have no idea how crazy she was…and Jack found out the hard way.

Claire (Aniston) came to town to visit her old friends from Chicago, Liz and Jenna. Neither really wanted to see her because of her wild and crazy ideas to have fun. One person that was happy to meet her was Jack. They hit it off immediately…literally. Liz went to see Jack in his office, when he asked about Claire, Liz told him to stay away from her, “she’s like a drug and she brings powerful men down.”

Too late. At that moment Claire walked out of Jack’s bathroom, getting herself together from a quickie with Jack. Disgusted with Jack, Liz warned him that if he sees her again, he will be in a lot of trouble. At this point Jack is addicted and despite her completely insane behavior – crashing an important corporate dinner event by singing him Happy Birthday, Marilyn Monroe style and showing up at his house uninvited and unannounced in a scandalous French maid outfit – Jack hooks up with Claire at least two more times…or “getting on the F train” as Claire refers to it to Liz.

When Liz finally confronts the two of them, she gives Jack an ultimatum. If he goes off with Claire one more time, Liz will not be there to bail him out. Jack is weak and chooses Claire. When Claire seems bored because she’s not really sneaking around behind Liz’s back, she tries to spice things up by stealing a policeman’s gun and putting it in Jack’s hand yelling, “Police, this man has a gun.” Exciting right? No, she’s a crazy @#$%&! Jack goes to night court, then jail, and Liz still bails him out.

Speaking of “Night Court,” there is a great side story going on during all this crazy woman stuff. All the pages at NBC get new jackets. Kenneth hates them. Tracy notices and tries to cheer him up. Kenneth mentions how the finale of Night Court was just as depressing, because Harry and Christine never got married. So, to cheer up Kenneth, Tracy brought back a few of the cast members from Night Court, got the set of the court room recreated, and let Kenneth rewrite the finale the way he wanted it to be.

Kenneth and Tracy have to work through some obstacles during the filming of the episode – Jenna wants to be in it because she played a role in season nine which turns out to be why the show ended; Liz finds out what they doing and wants the entire thing shutdown because its in violation of copyright and union laws; and Harry and Christine get in a fight – but they do work through it to get Kenneth the episode he always wanted. Tracy also got NBC to switch the pages back to the original their original navy blue blazers. All was good at TGS.

This was a great episode. The returning cast of Night Court was more entertaining to me than the guest spot of Jennifer Aniston. Don’t get me wrong, she’s very easy on the eyes, but Night Court was classic comedy from my childhood. My favorite parts of the episode were when Kenneth, Tracy, Jenns and the Night Court cast (Harry, Christine, and Mac) all join in on a group hug and Liz says, “A group hug, who does that?” That was very common on Night Court. Also when Tracy tells Kenneth he’s getting his old page jacket back, Kenneth raises his arm in the air in triumph, smiling and freezes as if he’s in a freeze frame. This was also very common at the end of a Night Court episode.

Lastly, my favorite Liz Lemon. I was cracking up when she was trying to describe her wild night out at a club called Chili’s where she met a hot dude that you could see his nips through his shirt and he had bulging muscles and they got it on. Classic. Even better, the next scene when Liz is outside a club wearing an ugly pink dress and her hair looks like she belongs in Napolean Dynamite. Very hot.

  2. I wish they hadn't focused all their attention on promoting Jennifer Aniston on the show this week. The cast of Night Court was the best part!
