It’s all about leverage, as Shane looks for retaliation, Danny tries to keep Vic away from their son, and Vic’s time on the force is cut radically. The episode could just as easily have been titled The Art of the Deal.

Vic shows up at Danny’s house looking to talk to her about the quit claim regarding their son. He tells her that he’s planning on getting a court ordered DNA test. Corinne meets her at the station to talk about Vic, and Danny mentions her plans to have him declared unfit.

When Corinne talks to Vic, she wonders if he is fighting for the sake of fighting. Returning to Danny’s house, he tries to cut a deal with her. She proposes family arbitration. Vic agrees, but as soon as he leaves, she resumes packing her things.

On a breaking and entering call in Claudette’s neighborhood, Dutch decides to pay her a visit. After not getting an answer on her phone, he breaks in to see the deteriorated condition of her home. He and Billings later find a 15% increase in b&e reports, while a private security company made up of ex-cops is patrolling the area. While questioning the man in charge of the company, Dutch notices a look between him and Vic, who tells him, “If you think he’s done something dirty, you’re probably right.” Checking the company log book, Dutch is able to tie him to the crimes, and concludes he is doing it to stimulate business. When Dutch tells him that his partner’s ER record matches the shooting that started the investigation, the man rolls on his partner, but Dutch makes sure that the deal still prohibits him from working in the same industry. Remembering the state of Claudette’s home, Dutch arranges for a cleaning lady, refusing to take no for an answer. Claudette confesses that all her energy has gone into work, and she is exhausted by the time she returns.

Aceveda turns over the blackmail box to nail Pezuela for the murder of Comptroller Martin. Vic gets into hot water for not turning over the box sooner, and the heat is turned up further when they show the tape of his meeting with Rios. Aceveda provides an alibi, and later tells Vic that he removed Olivia’s file before handing over the box. After Vic tells her, they go to the Justice department, looking to put the box back in play and nail whoever is pulling Pezuela’s strings. Olivia notes that the box will look suspicious going back to Pezuela without her file, so they go back to Aceveda. He wants to hold the file to make sure she doesn’t switch sides again, but Vic paints another scenario for him, in which Aceveda could face blackmail charges.

Claudette announces the news that Vic’s hearing with the review board has been pushed up. After the hearing, he finds himself with ten days left on the force. Claudette offers to restore his pension if he leaves immediately. Knowing all this, Pezuela pays Vic and throws in severance pay, since he’s of no use anymore. Claudette calls Danny into her office, to make sure there won’t be any issues between Danny and Vic during his remaining time.

Vic gets a call from a hooker named Farrah, who tells him that another hooker was killed by her pimp, Bombay. When Vic picks up his woman, she gives up his associate, 2Man. They go to pick him up. Shane lags behind in the chase, while Ronnie has to be pulled off him when they finally catch up. He rolls on Bombay, giving the location of his meth lab. Farrah rides with them, and in the shootout, Julien shoots Bombay. When Vic finds out that he was tipped off, he returns to find Farrah laughing about the way she played him, and the scenario looks very similar to his failed plan with Shane.

As the episode closes, Shane returns to 2Man with a deal if the thug takes out Ronnie.
