We start out on another flashback, but this one doesn’t take us anywhere exciting and dangerous like last week. It also, thankfully, doesn’t involve Bryce Larkin. We’re witness, this time, to Sarah (or Jenny Burton as she’s known in 1998) in high school. The episode title made me think perhaps Chuck was going to be exploring the dating scene with some Stiffler’s mom types but, alas, the Cougars were only Sarah’s high school mascot. This episode could also have been entitled Chuck Vs. Boy Meets World, but we’ll get into that later.

Here’s what we need to learn, Sarah/Jenny was a major dork in high school. She comes home from school to find her father being arrested by a bunch of federal agents. Out in the woods behind her house, where’s she’s been trained by her father to go in case of emergency, she finds a box full of money and a bunch of fancy knives. So this is where her knife fetish began.

Back in present day at the Buy More, Nicole Richie is getting her shop on. She spots Chuck and Sarah and it creeps Sarah out enough to grab Chuck and run for the Orange Orange. Nicole must think Sarah is her new BFF (since Paris is busy) because she follows them to the fro-yo shop. Inside, she pegs Sarah as Jenny Burton from high school. Chuck, who’s locked away in the secret lair, realizes that Nicole Richie might be a wealth of information on “Sarah Walker” in real life, so he decides to introduce himself. He is, after all, “Sarah’s” “boyfriend.”

Nicole wants to reminisce about old times, but Sarah/Jenny doesn’t want to have anything to do with that old life. Chuck, on the other hand, is all about getting to know Sarah’s old high school chums. Turns out Nicole Richie married Cory Matthews (Ben Savage [Boy Meets World] or Mark Ratner as he’s named on the show in a nod to Fast Times at Ridgemont High). I guess the Topanga thing never worked out.

Chuck meets Boy Meets World and instantly flashes on him, realizing that he’s got some top secret plans for some fancy high-tech spy plane his company has been working on. General Grandma makes Chuck and Sarah go on a double date with Nicole and Cory, despite Sarah’s protests, to find out what’s going on with the plane-plans.
Over in the B-Story, Lester is left in charge at the Buy More while Big Mike goes fishing. It doesn’t go well.

The double date doesn’t go well either. Boy Meets World is accosted in the men’s room by some Russian Mafia thugs who are after the plane-plans. Casey, posing as a waiter, comes in an saves the day, but exits quickly leaving Chuck to look like the hero when Boy Meets World finally pokes his head out from the stall where he’s been hiding.

Chuck and Casey grill Boy Meets World back at the Orange2. He’s supposed to meet a covert agent at the big, upcoming Cougar high school reunion to sell off the plane-plans. Chuck, Sarah/Jenny and Casey all will attend the reunion and Chuck, posing as his pseudo-super agent Charles Carmichael alter ego, will be there to protect Boy Meets World from the Russian Mob.

At the reunion, Sarah/Jenny gets hit on by Dick Duffy, who was mean to Sarah/Jenny in high school but is all over her now that’s she’s gorgeous. Chuck flashes on him and he’s got some ties to the Russian mafia, so we think this is the guy who’s trying to get the plane-plans. Sarah/Jenny kicks his butt in the parking lot and they search his car and find a bunch of cheap Russian knockoffs and some weed. He’s not the guy.

Of course, there is no “guy” the bad guy is guest star Nicole Richie. She turns the goons loose on Chuck and her husband telling them to kill them both and take the plans. Chuck jumps on stage, where Casey has been spinning all the golden 1998 oldies as the DJ, and starts spinning the spotlight around the room. Pointing out the Russian baddies for Casey to take care of while Sarah/Jenny chases down former cheerleader and current baddie Nicole Richie. There’s a big girl fight in the locker room showers but Sarah/Jenny wins and knocks Nicole out just in time to make it back to the ballroom/gym to claim her Reunion Queen tiara.

Lester cleans up his mess at the Buy More, but still resigns as assistant manager when Big Mike comes back from his fishing trip. Just when he was starting to do a good job.

  2. SO happy to see Ben Savage back to work. Just wish he wasn't attached to Nicole Richie!

  3. Candyman makes a cameo in a flashback also, recruiting Sarah into the CIA after he arrests her dad.
