Each year, a new character emerges to dominate the Prison Break landscape. Season two brought n Alex Mahone, who was the first person to keep up with Scofield, if not get one or two steps ahead of him. Last year it was James Whistler, with honorable mentions to Lechero and Gretchen. This season, it’s too early to tell so far, but it’s either going to be the star power of Michael Rapaport as Agent Don Self, or the pure chill of the murderous Wyatt (Cress Williams). Seems like William’s characterization borrows heavily from Chiwetel Ejiofor in the movie Serenity. Or maybe that’s just free association from Summer Glau in the Terminator show that leads into PB. Who knows?
(OK…Enough Firefly references. Confounding all the non-fans in the ‘verse.)

Self has given Michael until the end of the day to locate the second Cardholder. Roland finds that his Digital Black Hole has copied the first Cardholder’s PDA. Checking his emails, they find an appointment for that day, but it’s just a star with no info. To crack the code, Roland feels they need the original emails from a server in Anaheim. Sara distracts the security guard and passes his access card to Michael. He and Roland enter the server room, but the guard is onto Sara. To free her, Michael trips the fire alarm, but an emergency system throws the server room into lockdown and starts draining the oxygen to kill the “fire”. Just in time, Linc grabs a fire axe and frees Michael and Roland.
The emails reference a stargazers’ club, which leads Mahone to the idea that the stars can pinpoint locations on Earth, and will reveal the Cardholder’s meeting place. The Feds appear and surround Bellick and Sucre as they are on lookout duty. Roland finds that his computer is locked, and the crew realizes that Self’s operation has been shut down. A mass exodus follows as Self follows the crew. Realizing that the ankle bracelets are giving them away, Michael finds a dead spot where they can hide while they crack the code. Overlapping the emails leads them to a power plant in Newport Beach. Michael sees the Cardholder meet with the General, who discusses ominous testing operations in Laos.
Throughout all this, Self had been arguing with his supervisor to continue the operation. In the process, he had gone over his head to a Senator. The supervisor had pulled the plug on the operation. When Michael surrenders to Self, he shows video footage on his cell phone of all six cardholders. Self is convinced, and calls the Senator, leading his supervisor to put them in a “Mission: Impossible” kind of setup. Everyone is on their own, and denial is the rule if it fails.
Meanwhile…Bagwell follows the information in Whistler’s locker to a furnished apartment in LA, and the new name of Cole Pfeiffer. Pfeiffer was owed some money by Gregory White of the Gate Company. When he calls to have a check issued, White insists on meeting him face to face.
Wyatt uses sodium pentothal on Bennett to track Sara to Los Angeles. Mahone gets the file on his son’s murder, leading to several associations throughout the episode, and culminating in a tenuous trust between him and Linc, whose sons were both put at risk by The Company.
Got all that? Did I miss anything? My two cents keeps turning into about three bucks…Let’s hear what you think!
