The highly anticipated two hour premiere seems marred a bit by the writer’s strike, but most returning shows will be trying too hard to make up for lost time. In the http://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=34341585end, however, the episode does not disappoint.

After a brief recap of Whistler, The Company and Sona, we find Michael in LA, where has followed Gretchen, Mahone and Whistler to a conference where Whistler is paying a huge sum of money for a mysterious card. He double crosses the seller, then copies the card, double-crossing Gretchen. As both Gretchen and Michael find him, he tells Michael that Sara is alive after all. After a standoff, Michael yields his gun, and Whistler passes the card to a Company agent referred to as “The Cardholder.” Gretchen later, and The General is not happy when he finds out that Whistler provided only a copy of the card.

Sona has burned down after the riot started by Bagwell in the season finale. We find that Bellick and Sucre have made their way to the US by stowing away with smuggled illegal aliens. Bagwell attempts a similar tactic, but he is double crossed and left for dead in the desert.

Mahone arranges a meeting between Michael and Whistler. Whistler tells him that Sara was heading to Chicago, but before he can say more, he is shot by Wyatt, the General’s point man. Wyatt retrieves the original card from Whistler, after which the General orders “Clean-up Time.” Everyone close to Whistler is a marked man.

Attempting to find Sara in Chicago, Michael is picked up by the police and turned over to Homeland Security’s Don Self, who tells him that not only was he the one waiting for the card from Whistler, Michael’s father had been after the info as well. The info they are chasing is a list of Company operatives. The list is known as Scylla, after a monster in The Odyssey. Self offers Michael a deal to drop all jail time in exchange for Michael engineering a break-in to Company headquarters to retrieve Scylla. To do this, Self picks up Linc in Panama, Bellick and Sucre in Chicago, and Mahone, after his family has been killed by Wyatt.

Michael and Sara are finally reunited, but as Sara shows him the scars that Gretchen inflicted, Wyatt takes a shot at them. As all three begin to run, they realize that no place will be safe unless they take Self’s deal. End of hour #1.

The crew (now including Sara) is shipped of to a makeshift headquarters in LA, where Self introduces them to their newest member, electronics wizard Roland Glenn. In order to find the Cardholder, Mahone quickly profiles the driver, who was the only person he saw. They narrow down the list and identify their target, as Glenn reveals what he calls a “Digital Black Hole”, a device that wirelessly picks up any data in its area. If they can get it close enough to the card, they can get the Scylla information.

Sara slips it into the bag of a housekeeper, who is directed to the library by Michael. At the hq, Glenn is watching the download progress. It is successful, but the housekeeper notices that the device is not hers, so she leaves it behind, leading to a break-in by the crew. Sucre and Linc trip an alarm across the street to distract the guards. When the Cardholder turns off the alarm to check on the commotion, Michael and Mahone break in for the DBH, getting out seconds before the alarm is reactivated. Unfortunately, they find out more about Scylla: Like the six-headed monster of mythology, what they have is only one piece of six.

Several interesting threads are started in this episode for further follow-up: Bagwell follows the bird book to a locker in San Diego; Sara has a violent episode as she remembers Gretchen’s torture; Gretchen is being held prisoner and tortured by Wyatt; and Michael starts to get sudden nosebleeds, which could mean he is in worse condition than anyone thought.

WHEW! OK, so that’s my two cents…Let’s hear what you have to say!
