Well, let me first give you an idea of what's happening up to this point. Carmen left home and is now living with Ms. Glass. Josh and Lily are dating and tried experimenting with cough syrup. When the school announced they would be random drug testing, Josh asked Harrison for a urine sample because he knew the syrup would show up . Harrison gave his urine, but the results came back positive.

Now, this episodes starts with Josh coming up to Harrison in the hall, angry that his sample had lots of Codeine in it. Harrison said he wasn't taking any syrup or anything, so maybe they just told Josh that to see if he would admit to taking the cough syrup. As Josh & Lily leave, Harrison pulls out of his locker, a bottle of prescription pills that contain Codeine.....he throws them away.
Carmen is running for Homecoming Queen and Ms. Glass is helping her. Hellacious Achers(the Nicole of years ago) hates Bobbi Glass, so she joins forces with Nicole & Mary Cherry to try and find dirt on Carmen so she won't win H.C Queen.
Meanwhile Harrison asks Sam for aspirin for his migraine. She tells him to talk to the doctor and get a prescription, but he says he can't or it will show up in the drug test. But when she says he can get a note, he doesn't say anything, so she wonders if he is getting through his moms pharmacy. He said it was just stress and when Friday's vote comes he will be better. (There is a debate between him and Brooke)
Sam tells George she is dropping out of the race and they get back together.
Nicole & Mary Cherry find out that Carmens mom drinks. They find a whole bag of empty bottles.
In exchange for helping Harrison in the debate, he promises to see a doctor about his headaches. (his mom is out of town) But when the results come back, he has to have a parent present. We also find he gave the doctor a fictitious name. Sam is a bit upset. When they get back to school, Lily told Sam she is the other student they are looking for who took drugs. She admits to taking the syrup, and asking Harrison to do the urine switch-a-roo. Lily thinks Harrison is taking drugs. Sam tells her about the headaches and that he didn't realize there was Codeine in the meds.
Nicole & Mary Cherry announce to everyone that Carmens mom is an alchoholic.
Lily approaches Harrison about him taking drugs and he tells her if she narcs him out, he will never talk to her again.
Carmen overhears Glass talking to the pictures of Hellacious and how she torments Bobbi back in school.
Sam calls Harrison to ask him straight out if he is sick or taking drugs. He says "No".(This overheard by Brooke) So Sam and George(on a date) break into the clinic where Harrison went earlier. Sam finds his record and now wishes she didn't know.
Carmen confronts her mom. Her mom tells her when she looks at Carmen she sees herself, the person she didn't become. Carmens future is just beginning and hers is over. Her husband ran off with his girlfriend and her daughter is ashamed of her. Carmen tells her she loves her and wants to help her with the drinking. Carmen moves back home. Carmen wins Homecoming Queen and principle Krupps takes down Hellacious picture because he heard her trying to cheat.
Sam tells Harrison, visibly upset, he denies the results and says he is fine and that he is 17 years old and the results can't be right. He plans for the debate for later that day.
At the debate Brooke asks Harrison if it is true that he has a drug problem and that he switched urine to cover for Josh. Harrison tells everyone he did give his urine for Josh, but only to try to help a friend out. He also admits to taking the painkillers, but because he wasn't feeling good and just found out it's because he has Leukemia. He continues to say that his best friend told him to look things straight in the eye and face it head on.(I'm crying by now)
Ends with everyone crying and Sam and Harrison walking out of the gym arm in arm.
Well this is one of my top 5 episodes, the ending was so sad. I think the show covered the school drug problem pretty well and got some teenagers thinking when they saw this episode.
Tell me what you think of the episode....did you like it as much as I did? Did you cry at the end?
Leave me a note.

next week: eps 10 "The Consequences of Falling"
Ok I have started watching the acting, and I gotta tell you these are not fine actors, hopefully this is there first project and has learned from this. The more I watch the more its getting old. Christopher Gorham, who plays Harrison John stands out in my mind above the rest in acting,(just recently Chris has left his acting job on Ulgy Betty, apparently people are shocked and disappointed, according to the internet) the first season got a hold of me and I wanted more, in the second season so far I was glued to the set all through Harrison's illness. The show has been good, but I can now see why they only had 2 seasons, its starting to bore me, maybe its the whole high school scene and the cliques, or maybe I just don't see what else they can come up with. I still will be watching but with a different outlook.
ReplyDeleteOf course I bore easily, I was reading Janet Evanich's mystery series, and stopped in the middle of the fourth one, I got bored.
just my opinion. thanks for reading.
I want to explain my last post, since the whole Harrison health scare, the other episodes are just high school junk, (of course I have not seen them all). I am not so sure Popular did a good thing with the Harrison cancer story, because nothing seems as important after that. Just personality conflicts. again I haven't seen them all yet.
ReplyDeleteahhhh CC...looks like you ,and hopefully a lot of teenagers, got a wakeup call and realized that all the high school drama means squat when compared to a life threatening illness. But, tell me ...did you cry when Harrison was up in front of the class or when Sam told him the news? I also agree, Gorham is the best actor. He is getting more noticed now w/Betty and I feel in a couple years he will be a major star.(can you tell I am a huge fan of his)
ReplyDeleteyou bet I cried, from the election assembly until the marrow transplant from Nicki. Nicki's personality taking over Harrison's body after transplant was funny stuff.
