It is Christmas time and the girls gather together and are sad because Harrison is still in the hospital and needs a bone marrow transplant. The next scene shows Harrison and Clarence (another cancer patient) in their hospital room describing their best Christmas ever. Harrison describes getting a baseball glove and playing catch with his dad. Clarence describes getting his mom a diamond (fake) ring. Then Clarence dies and the rest of the show is done just like the movie "It's a Wonderful Life"
Harrison is very sad Clarence died and just doesn't want to try and do anything. He dreams he sees his father, who is holding a baseball. Harrison is angry with him and says he is too late to try and play ball with him. He is angry he walked out on him and his mom and that he hasn't come to visit him. He had to make-up the memory he told Clarence.
Carmen and Lily visit. Harrison (under a few drugs) calls Lily Zuzu and she gives hem a beaded bracelet for positive energy.
Next, Sam and Brooke give him 8 hamsters named after all of the gang and tell him they started a web site to try and get a bone marrow match. Harrison is mad there is no Clarence hamster. That night he goes to the roof and is ready to jump. Just like in the movie, Clarence (angel) shows up and tries to tell him not to jump. He warns him there are consequences to dying. Harrison says he wishes he was never born and then jumps.
He wakes up to Clarence on the street in the snow. Clarence tells him he was never born. The year is 2012 and it snows in Los Angelas year round. Zuzu's beads are gone. April Tuna is a successful but shrewd businesswoman. Harrison asks why she is like this, didn't she learn any leadership skills when she was president of student council. She says she wasn't president, Brooke was and that destroyed her hopes. Clarence tells him that since he wasn't there to drop out of the race and then Brooke dropping out....April didn't have her chance to win by default. Clarence said " A man or woman doesn't know what a small action they do, might mean later.
Next vision: Mary Cherry & Nicole are whores in the street (not surprised, but funny). Mary Cherry is missing her 2 front teeth. Sugar is their pimp. They don't recognize Harrison. Mary Cherry got this way because Harrison wasn't there to take her to the skating party where she felt genuine affection. Nicole is this way because.... well she would have been this way if he did live (lol).
Next vision: 10 year school reunion. Lily is a fur-wearing Republican. She got pregnant senior year by Josh. Her life changed because when Lily & Harrison were going to have sex but didn't, she learned it was sacred, but without him.... well she got pregnant senior year. Josh is a Junior Congressman. Lily abandoned her activism , felt the world to be unsaveable. Josh becomes president and ends the world (he is still a dumb jock). Even the few moments Harrison spent with Josh, were impressionable.
Next vision: Sam is married and Brooke died. Brooke died because of her eating disorder. Harrison wasn't there for her to realize the importance of life when she was with him in the hospital.
Carmen got sucked in by Nicole. Harrison was the glue of all the girls. He was the only common thing that Carmen, Sam and Lily had. Without him, nobody was there to stop Carmen from getting sucked into Nicole's web. Sam is the wife of a politician. Sam has a black eye because he beats her and she is afraid to leave him.
Harrison is upset over this and asks Clarence to show him what would have happened to Sam if he lived. The year is 2003 and Sam is going to marry someone Harrison didn't like, he said he wouldn't go to the wedding but would be 2 blocks away from the church, if she decides to change her mind. Next, shows Sam running out of the church to Harrison in his car and them driving off. Harrison is happy with this vision. Harrison then asks Clarence " If I would have lived, would I marry her?" Thunder strikes and Clarence can't answer him. Harrison gets mad cause he knows this doesn't prove he gets the girl. He feels he always misses out on the brass ring. So Clarence shows him one more vision.
Harrison is walking and a baseball rolls to him and he is at the baseball fields. A small boy approaches him. It is his son. He gives him a mitt and they play catch. (just like the memory he made up to Clarence in the beginning of the show). Harrison is very happy ... he finally gets the brass ring.
Harrison talks with Clarence and hears how Clarence wanted Harrison to experience what he couldn't.
Harrison asks God for help. He says he was foolish for not trying to fight his disease. He wants to live again! The orderly finds him on the roof , telling him he was looking for him all night. Harrison checked his pocket and finds Zuzu's beads. He is very happy to be alive!
Harrison goes back inside and finds everyone in his room. He finds out 3 people found matches on his web site and have a chance to live. Then Nicole comes in and announces she is a match for Harrison and will be donating her marrow.
They find a present for Harrison left by Clarence. It is a book called "Angels Unplugged" and he signed it:"A poor man who has friends, is always wealthy. Thanks for the wings, bro."

This was a fantastic episode! This is definitely in my top 3 favorites.
What about you? did you like this one? let me know. I think it has to be Christopher Gorham's (Harrison) best performance, yet.He should have be up for an award this season, in my opinion.
Next week: "Shocking Possession of Harrison John"
Thanks for listening and visiting the site.

Loved this eps too! I agree, Gorham was very good in the show. Good recap!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely in my top five from this series - especially loved the scene with Harrison and his son - if you can watch that without getting a little misty-eyes, you're a tougher woman than I am!
