"I cannot and will not kiss that cretin."
In the second episode, Joey is still naively under the impression that Pacey is too repelling to kiss. Ironically, in the first season Dawson is trying to talk her into this (for his movie), while he makes a creepy fake Joey head for the death scene. "I cannot and will not kiss that cretin."
In the second episode, Joey is still naively under the impression that Pacey is too repelling to kiss. Ironically, in the first season Dawson is trying to talk her into this (for his movie), while he makes a creepy fake Joey head for the death scene. They talk about Dawson wanting to kiss Jen, and how Joey can always pretend she's kissing someone else (wink wink).
Dawson talks his way into the upperclassmen film class where he is forced to endure work on quarterback Cliff's brainchild, Helmets of Glory. For his own movie, he comes up with the idea to kill off Joey's character early on and replace her with Jen. And for some reason it takes him an entire day before it occurs to him that he might not want Jen kissing Pacey. Pacey, meanwhile, is being rebuffed by Tamara, who wants to forget their kiss ever happened. Continuing with the kissing talk, Dawson asks his dad for advice on technique, which leads to the classic awkward scene of Dawson practicing on the fake Joey head while Joey watches from the shadows and pretends it's her.
That night is the big dance. Dawson and Joey usually stay in and watch dance-themed movies, but when Dawson invites her to this tradition, he finds out she's going to the actual dance with Cliff. He drags Joey along to win Jen back (without a plan), but only manages to piss off Joey and make a complete fool of himself trying to get rid of Cliff.
Pacey meets Tamara, Queen of Mixed Signals, on the docks after the dance. She insists nothing can happen between them again, but it does. Dawson also meets Jen and really wants something to be happening, but it's not. They do share a dance, as a melancholy Joey watches.
Throughout the episode, Joey is still wrestling with her knowledge of Gail's affair with her co-anchor, and lets her know that it's going to affect her family if she doesn't stop soon.
So let me know your Two Cents on "Dance"! Next week's is the episode actually titled "Kiss", one of my favorites.
"when Dawson invites her to this tradition" - oops, that "her" should be Jen, not Joey.
ReplyDeleteah the good old dawson! I kind of miss him you know...
ReplyDeletemaybe I will watch again some episodes now that I've read about him..
Absolutely, follow along! And the dialogue in the first season is just too good, I'd forgotten a lot of it.
