The Brain Trust
The Brain Trust has taken over Dr. Kelso’s office as their official clubhouse in which they will hold their tri-daily meetings and publish The Janitorial. And since Dr. Kelso is gone, Janitor talks Ted into becoming a new man by standing up to Dr. Cox. It works and Ted gets a boost of confidence… he even told a nurse that he wants “to make you pregnant.” But that confidence threatens the core of the Brain Trust: Ted starts standing up to Janitor. He wants to play cards but Janitor insists that the Brain Trust clean the hospital. Ted dissents and creates the Brain Bunch.
Turk and Carla
When celebrating the fact that Izzy is sleeping through the night, Turks remaining testicle gets hit by a rogue Champaign cork. Carla is worried that, since Turk has lost one testicle (see “My Dumb Luck”) that they should try to have another baby before anything happens to the other one. Turk is worried because pregnancy was so hard on Carla and post-partum was even worse. Carla informs him that there is a hormone that helps women forget how bad pregnancy is (I can attest to the existence of this hormone!) and just wants Turk to think about having another child.
Elliot and JD
Elliot had a patient who is entitled to a pharmaceutical company’s settlement money but can’t find him. JD agrees to help but offends her by wishing Turk was there to goof around with. Elliot, to prove she can goof around with the best of them, puts a sign on a fast food drive-through intercom that says “Speaker broken – must yell to order.” A kidnapping later, Elliot freaks out that her prank backfired and tells the truth to the cops. She is angry with JD and says it all comes back to the fact that he doesn’t want to hang out with her.
Resolution
Voice-over JD says that “Sometimes we bring trouble on ourselves” (Janitor giving Ted confidence, Elliot and JD pulling the prank, or Turk and Carla celebrating Izzy sleeping through the night). Janitor, Turk, and JD go to Dr. Cox for advice: they are all “lost.” Dr. Cox could care less, but inadvertently solves their problems. JD must restore his friendship with Elliot, Janitor must extend an olive branch to Ted, and Turk must strike a bargain. In the end, things are back to normal. Funny how that happens every week at Sacred Heart.
My favorite moments of the episode:
There were MANY great moments in this episode, from Carla telling Turk that diabetics can die from not doing the laundry, to Janitor re-instituting the use of flags to claim property. There were also MANY disturbing moments, from the BallMart/ice-fishing dream sequence to the flashback of Ted meeting Dr. Kelso for the first time. But I must say that the best moment was JDs daydream of the sitcom “Legal Custodians”… a happy romp with Ted and Janitor adopting a kid together. I almost choked on my popcorn.
