"The Office" Thursday is bittersweet this week with an episode titled, "Goodbye, Toby," anticipating Michael's joy and it also being the season finale, knowing we will be left with some kind of cliff hanger...or cliff hangers! We also have the strange behavior of Ryan and the looming marriage proposal of Jim to Pam. How could this finale play out? Well, so much happened tonight. I'm going to try to do this as quickly as possible. (That's what she said!)

Continue saying goodbye...

Today is Toby's last day, so a new HR representative is assigned. Her name is Holly. Michael thought he would hate her for being in HR, but it turns out she's pretty cool. Michael likes her, attempts the "Jim Halpert take your time to get to know her" approach, and it seems to be working, but he misses her signal for some one on one time for dessert. Typical Michael Scott.

Pam gets accepted to design school in New York City. Jim is excited for her and completely supportive of her having to move for three months during class. Jim decides that this will be the night he proposes to her and has fireworks ordered for Toby's going away party. During the fireworks, Jim gets ready to pop the question...and...Andy interrupts him and the entire party by taking a mic and proposing to Angela in front of everyone. Angela painfully says "Okay." Jim's parade is rained on, Pam must wait, and so do we.

Ryan is arrested for fraud - misleading the share holders by counting sales twice by also logging them through his Dunder Mifflin Infinity Web site. The arrest is on YouTube for everyone to watch.

Dwight takes the idea of hazing the new HR rep, Holly, a little far. He tells her that Kevin is a part of a special work program because he's a little "slower" than everyone else. She treats him like a little child. Kevin mistakes her kindness for flirtation and thinks he has a chance to bang her.

Kevin calls Michael from the grocery store while making a run for the party, to tell him he has to see something. Kevin isn't as slow as we think...Jan's sporting a baby bump. Unfortunately, its not Michael's. Jan didn't have confidence in Michael's little guys, so she went to a sperm bank. She invites him to lamaze anyways and he accepts after missing out on an opportunity to go out with Holly.

Quick Note 1: Phyllis planned Toby's going away party after Angela refused to meet Michael's unrealistic demands. She threw the best party in Dunder Mifflin Scranton history - a mini-carnival, live band led by Darryl, and Jim's fireworks.

Quick Note 2: Pam gave Toby a going away present of the entire office, but to Toby's dismay she wasn't in it because she took the photo. He found a camera and got a photo with her. That made Toby's day. He would've had a heart attack if he knew Pam said she thought Toby was cute during her talking head.

And the biggest cliff hanger of all...(drum roll sound)....the last scene of the episode, Phyllis returns to the office after the party and walks in on two people having sex on a desk. Who are the two people? Dwight and Angela. No, I didn't type that incorrectly. It was Dwight, his bare back, and Angela with messed up hair, both out of breath.

Okay, so that was completely a recap. There was a lot of funny stuff in this hour long finale. I couldn't cover every detail, so go to NBC or Hulu.com and watch it online. It was a great finale and I wasn't disappointed. So, here's some things to think about this summer...With Ryan out, who will take his place in NYC? Could it be fate? Open job in NYC and Pam is going to school there - insert Jim Halpert...What's going to happen with Jan and Michael?...What's going to happen with Michael and Holly?...Will Dwight and Angela be reunited? Other than sexually?...Will Ryan return?...Will we go a whole season next year without a proposal from Jim to Pam? So much to think about.

What do you think? Please share your predictions!

  2. My HOPE is that Holly stays & we get to see her & Michael fall in love & have Michael not want to raise Jan's baby. I ADORE Holly & think her addition to the show is brilliant if she stays.

I was pretty disappointed with the huge plot twist just because Andy & Angela were never taken seriously as a couple & we all knew her & Dwight would get back together.

As far as Pam & Jim go I think Pam will go away to New York & come back very changed...much like Jim when he came back from Stamford...drraammaa...

  3. This ep was pure vintage "Office!" Loved "special" Kevin, Michael and Holly, and Phyllis sticking it to Angela. I'll be really sad to see Toby go, too!
