When we last saw Earl Hickey, he’d just come out of a coma after winning a game of Killerball and told everyone about Billie. This week’s episode began with Earl determined to find the woman he believes to be his soul mate through any means necessary, including knocking over Joy and Darnell’s trailer, forcing them to move into the Crab Shack. Meanwhile, Catalina has decided she’s “not into bananas anymore,” as Joy so eloquently puts it. Say what you will about Joy, but she’s always the epitome of class and taste, especially when she makes her kids sleep on tables in a bar.

On his quest to find Billie, Earl goes to find her ex Frank in a halfway house. He gives Earl his blessing since Billie is no longer living a life of crime, so “it’d be like if Mother Teresa started dating that bald guy in the diaper. What’s his name? Gumby.” In exchange for help finding Billie, Earl gets Frank a job at the Crab Shack. Their first stop on their search for Billie is her cousin Jocelyn, who reveals that on the day she hit Earl, Billie had just “robbed a liquor store on Jesus’ birthday.” Since Jocelyn (though hilarious) is less than helpful, Earl and Randy go to Kenny since he is the only person they know with internet access. He looks up the pay phone that Billie last called from, and Earl and randy set up a stakeout hoping to catch her. There, they run into Stuart, who hit Billie with his car, fell in love with her while she was in a coma, and talked her into living with him by convincing her that the police were after her because she killed Earl.
Billie and Stuart move into Earl and Randy’s hotel, where Catalina develops a crush on Billie. After Catalina tells them that Earl lives two doors down, they go to stay with Kenny. Seeing an opportunity to get Stuart all to himself, Kenny calls Earl to tell him that Billie is there. Earl puts on a clean shirt and (in my favorite moment of this episode) writes a speech explaining his feelings using nothing but “lyrics Bret Michaels wrote in the 80s.” How could he possible go wrong? Bret Michaels may be many, many things but despite all the bandannas, he is still quite a songwriter. While Earl is telling Billie how he feels, Catalina and Frank also take turns trying to convince her of their undying love for her. Billie believes that karma really did bring her and Earl together, and they get married. I was pretty surprised by that, but I was more surprised that Stuart and Kenny sort of got together, or at least agreed that their futures will be filled with Jack Russell terriers. Catalina’s newfound “Chap Stick lesbian” phase ends when she runs into Paco, and all is well again.
What did you all think of this episode? I liked “Killerball” better, and I apologize for not mentioning Randy’s Pac-Man noises earlier, as one of you pointed out in the comments. To make up for that oversight, I’ve started making Pac-Man sounds at inappropriate times throughout the day. I hope that will suffice. As usual, I’d love to hear what everyone thought, so leave your Two Cents in the comments below!
Laura,I will not be happy until I see video of you making inappropriate Pac-Man noises on YouTube. Sorry. I am not taking your word for it, sister.
ReplyDeleteThis episode was just weird for me, but I'm glad Earl and Billie got back together. They're so cute.
