The season finale starts with Ted and Stella having a lovely little breakfast – until Stella invites Ted to her sister’s wedding next November. Ted might not be talking to Barney but he still lives by Barney’s Dating Etiquette. The rule this time - never make plans with a women if it’s farther in the future than the time you’ve been dating. The wedding is in 6 months but they’ve only been dating 3. So Ted panics and dumps her.

After getting into a car accident (in a cab) Ted ends up in the hospital and the “near death” experience makes him realize he actually loves Stella and wants her back. Meanwhile Lily tells Barney about the accident. He hangs up on her but not because he doesn’t care, like Ted assumes, but because he’s rushing to get to the hospital. Silly Ted, he must have really hit his head hard in that crash – you hate Barney, he loves you. Everyone knows that!

Marshall calls Ted surviving the car crash without a scratch a miracle. Robin makes it clear she doesn’t believe in miracles. Marshall keeps pointing out things from the past that he thinks were miracles, like him not getting his job back because Lily’s kindergarten class gave him lice. When Stella shows up and makes out with Ted, Marshall thinks it’s a miracle too. Lily doesn’t care if it’s a miracle or not she’s just glad that they are back together. She tells Stella as much but it turns out Stella didn’t realize the breakfast thing was a break up. Now that she knows she’s the one a little freaked out at how easily Ted bolts - and she dumps him.
Barney, after running all the way to the hospital to see his best buddy Ted, gets hit by a bus. Seriously. A bus. So now Barney’s in a body cast and that near death experience is what brings Ted and Barney back together. Marshall deems it another miracle.

Robin tells everyone why she doesn’t believe in miracles. When Robin was a little Canadian her family dog was old and needed to be put down. Her parents took him to the vet and when they came back they lied to her and said the vet had discovered a new treatment to save him – but it turned him into a turtle. And she bought it. Later (from the sounds of it she might have even been in her twenties) when she figured out their fib, she decided there was no such thing as a miracle. If this story is true, the real miracle is Robin doesn’t wear a helmet in public – what a moron!

After making up with Barney, Ted leaves to chase down Stella and Marshall, Lily and Robin goof off with Barney in his hospital room. And that’s when the real miracle happens – Barney stares lovingly at a girl. Not lustily, but lovingly. And the girl is Robin.

When Ted finds Stella he doesn’t just make up with her – he proposes. Yeah. I’m willing to bet money now that he actually does have a head injury.
So do you think Stella will say yes? Does Barney love Robin or is it a side effect of the bus accident? What were your thoughts on this season and your predictions for the next? Leave your two cents in the comments!

  2. This is one of the most heartwarming and at the same time, funniest TV episodes of HIMYM that I've watch in which shows how Barney cares so much for Ted.

You know, reading online reviews of shows made me remember how I got into watching this show for the first time, and after learning that this is a good watch, I watch TV online to make up for the episodes that I haven't watched on its first run.
