"Grey's Anatomy" Recap & Review - "Crash Into Me" parts 1 & 2

Grey’s Anatomy
“Crash into Me” parts 1 and 2

Original Air Dates: 11/22/07 and 12/06/07

Bailey is an amazing character. She struggles to find the medium between family and work. However, she chooses to perform surgery on a white supremacist rather than meeting with her husband. Eventually her husband gets fed up and leaves. Does anybody else see the parallel between Bailey and the Chief? The Chief’s family fell apart in the same manner, yet the Chief didn’t promote Bailey because he did not want the same thing to happen to her. Another thing that could happen to Bailey is a mental breakdown. It would be interesting to see how such a strong character is vulnerable.

Cristina is now starting to bother me. She used to be one of my favorite characters, and now, she seems to be channeling Alex’s meanness in the older seasons. She is rude and has no respect. And, just when I think that I am really starting to loathe her, she turns around and is absolutely amazing with Lexie. The speech that she gave Lexie was moving. She also took Lexie under her wing and brought her to Meredith’s house to party. Maybe this is the turnaround for Cristina’s character this season.

Derek is getting boring. Who is Rose? I mean, she’s okay as a fill-in love interest, I guess. But, do the writers actually think that we don’t know that Derek and Meredith will end up together? Do they think that they can trick us or make a new “it” couple? Yes, I know he’s great looking and all, but his biggest storyline has been with a love interest. This man needs a new storyline.

Alex is a mess of a character. He is portrayed very well, but he just seems inconsistent to me. First, he’s mean and cruel. Then, he can be sweet and kind. Now, he’s back to the jerk that is breaking rules for the hell of it and not really caring what he does. It’s always a guess of which personality he is going to have in what episode. This thing with Ava has gotten him into more trouble than he needs. I think that the Alex/Ava storyline doesn’t make sense anymore if she isn’t going to be a permanent on the show. We get that he “rebuilt” her, but the problem is, that was the nice Alex, and the jerk Alex is back.

Lexie. I’m sorry, but her character hasn’t really grown on me yet. I honestly just don’t care about her. She may be a good character that is portrayed well, but she just … I feel like she has too many plotlines that could be made into a story and the ones that are made don’t always get written. There was about 7 minutes about her and Meredith’s father being a drunk, and we haven’t heard about that since. She was very brave in these episodes, but overall, I’m just not into her. Though, I was rooting on her chemistry with guest actor Seth Green. Kudos to Seth Green, I enjoyed your appearance immensely.

George is just a wimp now. George is my favorite character, but he has no backbone anymore. Of course, he has more power than the other interns, but he’s not at the level of residence. George had strong, powerful storylines, and now that they have diminished to the backburner. He just has been learning the most life lessons out of all the characters these past few episodes.

Speaking of George, Izzie has dropped on my list too. Her obsession with the chemistry between her and George is what is stopping it from occurring. Let’s face it, they gave it a shot, it was nice in the beginning, but it’s getting boring. I like George with Izzie, but he’s an intern and she’s a resident. None of the characters that have relationships on different levels like them have lasted/ been successful (i.e.: Cristina and Burke, Meredith and Derek)

Mark and Erica are funny together. Even when Erica is being strict, it’s all in good fun. Mark and Erica should have more together, since they really don’t have any other plots.

Which leaves me at the last character, Meredith. She has grown from these two episodes alone, and I think I respect her more. She handled the ambulance crisis impeccably. The Chief couldn’t have done anything better. Sometimes, I think Meredith is overbearing and whiney. But, this episode hit home to her. She realized that she might not have the time to be with Derek again and asks him not to date other women. She seems to get this reminder every season. The reminder seems to be the turnaround for her character for the season. Watch this girl; she’ll just get better as the season goes on.

What was with the rerun in between episodes? Yeah, I didn’t like that much either.
