A rat outside the walls. A man playing soccer. A crushed paper coffee cup. A new arrival who seems to know Whistler. Little things start to add up as the break nears.

Michael tells Linc that the break has to happen in mid-afternoon. He explains the plan to Whistler, including using the soccer game as cover. At night, there would be military jeeps. The risk is less during the day. One guard tower will be distracted by the glare of the sun. The other needs to be destabilized. Michael tries to rig some sort of device to send en electronic pulse that will knock out the TV the guard in that tower is watching.

Michael asks Linc to have a getaway car waiting, but as he and Sofia explore the roads, the police stop them, saying that the roads are closed for two miles within the vicinity of Sona.

Sucre takes five thousand dollars to smuggle something into Sona. He makes the drop, but when he collects the money, they want him to keep doing it.

Michael gets a pair of binoculars. Dismantling them, he and Whistler each take a lens and watch the guards, until a flash of light off Michael’s lens sends the place into lockdown. The guards think it is a rifle scope. They haul the prisoners into the square and lock Michael’s cell, where they saw the reflection. Michael confesses that it was his cell, and Whistler jumps in to say that he was watching birds. Reluctantly, the guards relent and Michael retrieves the lens. But the cell is still locked.

During the guards’ onslaught, Bagwell hides Lechero’s woman. They draw closer to each other until Lechero returns. When she tries to take money from Lechero, Bagwell tries to cover for her, but this only seems to anger Lechero.

Linc buys a cooler and some supplies at a dive shop. He buries it at the beach, where Sona is within view. Back inside the prison, Mahone watches the guards and tells Michael about the coffee cups. They are coming from the tower guard. Michael seems to think this holds a valuable key.

While the episode has its excitement, it’s mostly to set the table for the two hours coming this Monday. The break is about to happen.

    Then what?

Prison Break airs Mondays at 8 PM on FOX. Episodes can also be viewed at the FOX website.
