Dan Vasser is jogging in 2007 and suddenly he’s jogging in the middle of a rave in 1992. He spots Livia dancing but she doesn’t know who he is. There’s something suspicious going on behind one of the walls of the warehouse and when he tears out some loose bricks he finds a little girl, Emily, who’s been abducted. Vasser brings the girl out on the street and tries to find a phone to call the police. A totally-out-of-place-at-a-rave guy in a suit offers to watch the little girl while Dan goes to find a phone, but the girl freaks out and tells Vasser that the man was the one who abducted her.

The cops show up and Vasser tries to explain that he found the girl and that she went missing in 1992 and was never found. The cops think he’s a looney and they cuff him and stuff him into their squad car. Emily tells the cops that Vasser was the one who rescued her and they run back to the squad car but Vasser is gone – vanished out of the back of the locked police car.

The kid, Zack Vasser (who’s only on the show when they need him to increase the dramatic tension or do something stupid that advances the plot-line and almost doesn’t exist the rest of the time) is acting up in school and could be expelled.

The cop, Jack Vasser, is still questioning his brother’s sanity and talks to his girlfriend about possibly having his brother committed for “observation.”

Dan shows up at the school to find Katie and he’s still in handcuffs. They find a nearby sex shop and try all the keys to their handcuffs eventually one set works and the cuffs come off.

Over at the Chronicle the feds are still on Dan’s trail. They question his boss about the Dylan McClean heist and they think Dan might be in possession of the stolen cash. Vasser’s boss reads them the Riot/Patiot Act and tells the fed to hit the road.

Dan and Katie talk about their Problem Child and then Dan heads to work, where he finds out his boss wrote the story about Emily back in 1992. She was a foster child and she was placed in foster care after an unidentified man found her after she had been missing for three months. As it turns out, another girl went missing about a year later and then turned up dead. In the old story notes, Vasser finds a business card from the suspicious guy from the rave. His boss says that the guy, Aeden Bennett, was questioned by police but never charged with anything but Vasser knows he abducted Emily.

Vasser calls his brother to come and question Bennett. Vasser for some reason decides that now, instead of coving up, he’s going to try and convince his brother that his trips to the past are real. Jack knows about the counterfeit 2003 $20 that Dan used in 1995. Dan tells him that a cabbie called the police and he had to run. Jack, however, was the only one who knew that it was a cabbie that called police. So Jack is starting to question the truth.

Jack questions Bennett about a “cold case” he’s working on. Bennett sticks to his story and Jack gives him the evil-eye as he walks away.

Dan and Livia meet up in the past and they start looking for the missing Emily. They’re in some park and Emily is turning tricks or selling drugs for some sleazy guy. He’s about to put the beat down on her and Dan gets in his face. The sleazy guy takes off and they take Emily back to Dan’s old apartment. 1992 Dan must be out of town, since they aren’t worried about him coming home. They talk to Emily about why she disappeared from her foster family. She just wanted to start over and put the past behind her.

Vasser goes to track Aeden Bennett against Livia’s better judgement. He spies on him again and this time he’s just getting started in chatroom cyber-stalking. Vasser confronts him, since he now knows that he’s cruising the internet for his next victim who will eventually turn up dead. Bennett runs and Dan gives chase, but before he can catch him Vasser Quantum Leaps.

Back in the present Zack complains of a headache. When Katie goes for the Advil, Zack disappears. Dan used to have headaches right before he becomes unstuck in time too. Maybe this whole thing is hereditary. Dan pops up and they search frantically (remember what I said about only needing Zack for dramatic tension) but they find him hiding in the cupboard and not in 1985.

Jack and Dan are both investigating Bennett now. Vasser wants to find the building he was using to stash his second victim and Katie is giving him grief about finding out the reason behind why he’s traveling. She wants it to stop. Why now? She seemed okay with it once she realized that he wasn’t lying about it. She was even okay with him meeting up with Livia on his little jaunts. She’s pouring her heart out to Dan, but Dan’s gone.

Dan and Livia find Emily again, a few years later in 2001. This time Emily is about to be arrested in the park by some undercover agents. Dan pulls her out just in time. Dan takes off to find Bennett and Livia doesn’t want him to. She explains that Bennett isn’t the reason that he’s traveling. She doesn’t want him to change something that he’s not supposed to change. They argue and Dan gets in the car to go after Bennett but stops off at his house in 2001. Futurama is on and the babysitter is snoozing in front of the television. Dan grabs a tire iron and some duct tape and the babysitter wakes up as he’s trying to leave.

At Bennett’s secret hiding place they have a big fight and Dan ties Bennett up and smashes through a wall where he finds the girl he’s got stashed there. She gives Dan a big hug. The cops and Livia show up.

Back in the present Dan’s boss tells him that Bennett served six years of a ten year sentence and then disappeared – possibly to Thailand. Jack shows up and he no has no memory of working with Dan to investigate Bennett. Of course, because Bennett has now been in prison these last few years and not out of the street. Jack made an appointment for Dan to see a shrink and if he doesn’t show up Jack is going to forcibly take him in for “observation.”

Meanwhile, Zack is playing outside and who should be sitting in a car watching/stalking him but Aeden Bennett.
