We’re back kids! We learn the story about joining gyms and how popular they were in 2007. Mostly because Ted got winded from running to his room for pizza money, he convinces everyone to join the gym with him. They all agree – because the alternative is to stop drinking beer. Side note – does ANYone like Alyson Hannigan’s new hair?

At the gym we get the story lines of Marshall having a hot female trainer – who ends up being like an R. Lee Ermey type drill sergeant, Lilly have an attractive male trainer who likes to ‘stretch her out’, and Robin not wearing nice clothes or make up (she gets referred to as: lesbian prison guard and ‘dude’ by her friends.)
At the juice bar Barney runs into Rhonda (Stephanie Faracy – “Ugly Betty”, “The Great Outdoors”), known to people in Barney’s old neighborhood as the “Man Maker”. She is the woman who Barney lost his virginity to. Flashback to 1998 and grunge tree-hugger Barney sitting around with his brother James (Wayne Brady – “Don’t Forget the Lyrics”, “Whose Line is it Anyway?”) saddened by being dumped. James tells Barney about “The Yips” – the inability to talk to women due to no confidence and convinces him to go to the Man Maker. After doing their thang, Rhonda tells young Barney that he rocked her world and the best she ever had – thus the Barney we all know and love was born – Armani clad and fully awesome.
Back to 2007 and Rhonda doesn’t remember who Barney is, he’s shaken! Turns out James asked Rhonda to fake it all for Barney’s sake. Uh oh – can anyone else see The Yips coming back? The writers give Neil Patrick Harris such wonderful things to say that I’ll let their work paint the anxiety within Barney – “But, you said I rocked your world. All subsequent worlds that I rocked were only so rocked because of the confidence I earned from said first world rocking.”
Trying to get his mojo back Barney scores tickets for him and boys to the Victoria Secret Fashion show after-party. At the party we see guest stars Victoria's Secret Supermodels Heidi Klum, Marisa Miller, Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, Selita Ebanks and Adriana Lima. But alas, the Yips have taken hold of Barney and he’s as smooth with the ladies as cold dull razor. Barney goes to the stand-by lines… “This party is legen… wait for it……….” Yup. He couldn’t even finish the line! Yips Mania. Can Heidi Klum help? Her suggestion is to return to the Man Maker and show her he is the best she’s ever had!
Face to face with Rhonda, Barney asks to re-thang. Rhonda says no, that those days are behind her. The next time we see Barney in the bar, the suit is gone, the sweat pants have arrived. Who IS this Barney? Rhonda goes to find Barney and talks him into playing Go-Fish with her again to show he doesn’t have to sleep with every woman he meets. Have way through fishing for a King, they both agree that just sitting and talking is no good – flash forward to the post-thang cigarette and Rhonda admitting that Barney really IS the best she ever had. And in the words of Barney: “Daddy’s back!”
And oh yeah – the trainer that liked to stretch out Lilly? He wasn’t affiliated with the gym. Robin and Ted seeing each other workout erased any remaining sexual tension that was left between them. Gone. And so am I. See you all next week.
