Some Jimmy Kimmel News

ABC’s late-night talk show “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and Sierra Mist, the crisp, refreshing lemon-lime soda, have partnered to conduct a nationwide search for the funniest college student in America. Beginning October 10th, students across the country will have the opportunity to showcase their most side-splitting comedic material in the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” College Comedy Championship brought to you by Sierra Mist, culminating with an announcement of the winner on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

“Jimmy Kimmel Live” and Sierra Mist and are hosting a 15-college campus tour and online search to determine the nation’s 2007 College Comedy Champion. The campus tour allows students to enter the College Comedy Championship one of three ways: attend the day long event to have their performance taped for submission to the online comedy search; register online for a chance to perform during the evening showcase hosted by professional comedians; or for those unable to attend the campus events, submit a three-minute video online at www.kimmelcollegecomedy.com. The championship will be open for submission starting October 10th, ending November 15th. Visit www.kimmelcollegecomedy.com for the complete set of rules and submission criteria.

  1. “We’re very excited about the College Comedy Tour and delighted to have Sierra Mist as a partner. And who knows -- maybe the next Jimmy Kimmel is out there, just waiting for us to discover him or her,” said co-executive producer Doug DeLuca.

The campus events will culminate in an evening showcase where the first 15-20 student comics to register online will perform in front of their peers. Hosted by professional stand-up comedian Vargus Mason, who has appeared on Last Comic Standing, BET and Comedy Central, and Alexandra McHale, who has appeared on Premium Blend and was voted “Female Entertainer Of The Year” two years in a row by college students, the show will close with a performance by the hosts.

Championship finalists will be reviewed by a “Jimmy Kimmel Live” panel of humor experts, and the 2007 College Comedy Champion winner will be announced during an episode of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” the week of November 26th, 2007.
