TwoCents Fall Preview - Wednesdays (NBC)

It's all new on Wednesdays over at...

NBC

Show: Bionic Woman
Premiere Date: September 26th
Time: 9:00PM EST
TwoCents Staff New Show Rank: 1 of 26
Voted The Break Out Hit of 2007 By The TwoCents Staff
TwoCents Staff Writer: Gargy
Starring: Chris Bowers, Miguel Ferrer, Lucy Hale, Will Yun Lee, Molly Price, Michelle Ryan, Mark Sheppard
Description: Struggling as a bartender and surrogate mom to her teenage sister, Jaime Sommers (Michelle Ryan, "EastEnders") didn't think life could get much harder. But when a devastating car accident leaves her at death's door, Jaime's only hope for survival is a cutting-edge, top-secret technology that comes at a hefty price.
With a whole new existence and a debt to re-pay, Jaime must figure out how to use her extraordinary abilities for good -- while weighing the personal sacrifices she will have to make. Ultimately, it's Jaime's journey of self-discovery and inner strength that will help her embrace her new life as the Bionic Woman in this new action-drama series.
Gargy's TwoCents: Brand new show to NBC, we hope to see some kick-ass from the newest Jamie Somers, high drama, lots of Sarah Corvis, and sub-text galore.
TV by KP: I've watched the premiere episode already and let me tell you, it's action packed! As a fan of Battlestar Galactica I recognized a few familiar faces as well as style of programming. This show could end up being very very popular, but that's not really going out on a limb to say that now is it?

Show: Life
Premiere Date: September 26th
Time: 10:00PM
TwoCents Staff New Show Rank: 15 of 26
TwoCents Staff Writer: Maty
Starring: Damian Lewis, Sarah Shahi, Adam Arkin, Brooke Langton, Robin Weigert, Brent Sexton
Description: From Rand Ravich (“The Astronaut’s Wife”), Far Shariat (“Confessions of a Dangerous Mind”), and David Semel, who directed the pilot of NBC's "Heroes," "Life" is a new drama about a detective who is given a second chance. Damian Lewis ("Band of Brothers") stars as complex, offbeat Detective Charlie Crews, who, thanks to close friend and attorney Constance Griffiths (Brooke Langton), returns to the force after serving time in prison for a crime he didn't commit.
TV by KP: I was sent the first few episodes of Life and finally popped the pilot into the DVD player last night. About half way through I had already decided not to pop in the second episode. Another cop show. Another detective with a sketchy past, and odd mannerisms (Law and Order CI or Monk anyone?) who turns out to be better at his job that anyone else? A hard nosed female partner, forced to take him on and fighting her own demons? Yawn. A head of detectives out to get him but just can't quite catch him? Yeah, I've seen this 100 times. I'll give it a 2nd chance because the last 3 minutes were intriguing and because Adam Arkin deserves it, but I'm not holding out a lot of hope.

  1. Katee Sackhoff is great in this show, and even though the pilot was rushed I think the show is only going to get better in future episodes. The pedigree is certainly there, and based on the marketing NBC seems committed.
