Good morning Two Cents readers! Last night the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame had its 2007 Induction Ceremonies. The inductees this year were Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five (the first hip-hop act inducted), The Ronettes (Be My Baby), Patti Smith (punk rock, New York poetry music), Van Halen and R.E.M.
I read a few article recaps of the ceremonies, but I was suprised it wasn't televised anywhere. Apparently it was available on AOL live last night. A big disappointment is that of Van Halen only Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony (the bass player) showed up. Eddie is in rehab, his brother Alex didn't show up and David Lee Roth boycotted over a dispute on which song he would sing. Some things never change huh? That left Hagar and Anthony to perform with the Paul Shaeffer led 'house band'. Sad.
However, R.E.M. did reunite in total, including Bill Berry who left the band after dealing with health issues in 1997.
Here's a video clip of highlights. And here's the entire show!
Any comments? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
I missed the show, but they should have booted Van Halen out of the Hall of Fame. They do not deserve to be there. Period. This is the ultimate accomplishment for any band and they showed so much disrespect by acting like a bunch of kids.
ReplyDeleteScrew them. I am going to throw out my VH cd's. ( except for the good ones) Well, which would be all of them.
Nevermind.
Now that's comedy! Should have signed your name to get credit for the laughing I'm doing over here.
