ReplyDeleteAs a story-telling device, Amber looks as if she’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s like House is divided in two and talking to himself (and the other self answers back). Oh, right, he is divided in two — that’s why the episode is called House Divided.
The patient du jour is Seth, a high school wrestler who lost his hearing at age 4. In the middle of a match, he starts hearing explosions. When House starts diagnosing, Amber is digging into the far reaches of his mind for subverted memories — or she points out small details that might have swum in his subconscious for a while before surfacing.
House asks Wilson for sleeping pills, which Wilson does without a fight. Hmm… Turns out Wilson’s planning a secret. But when Amber helps House on the case, he decides it’s better not to sleep if it means having Amber’s assistance — so he dumps the pills.
But then Amber starts to get mean — Jekyll to his Hyde. There’s a reason her nickname used to be Cutthroat Bitch. When the boy is having a brain biopsy, House orders that Seth be given a cochlear implant, something he’s never wanted and could surely lead to a very costly lawsuit. Sure enough, the boy rips it out when he wakes up (it’s a girlfriend thing, mostly).
Meanwhile, House walks into a meeting between Chase and Wilson that sounds hush-hush. So of course House has to butt in. Turns out it’s about Chase’s bachelor party and House immediately wants to take over. After all, excessive alcohol and strippers is his territory. Cameron gets wind of it and wants Chase out, but Chase asks House to kidnap him (and House does exactly that).
Wilson swears he won’t come to the party, but walks right in after all — but then, House is throwing it at Wilson’s house without permission. Then things take a deadly turn. Amber had told House to get a certain stripper he’d met at a party 10 years ago and the men start doing shots off her belly. She uses strawberry-flavored body butter and Chase is so allergic to strawberries, he has to be rushed to the hospital. And House knew both of these facts all along.
Turns out, Amber is evil… downright evil.
The case with Seth takes many twists and turns, but it turns out House is not the one to solve it. He’s too drunk after the party and his team, who need to be detoxed first, figure that it has to do with chewing tobacco and the immune system. And the mom, in a nod to House, insists Seth get the cochlear implant after all.
And House humbly walks into Cuddy’s office to ask for a kiss — wait, that’s next week. Instead he asks for sleeping pills, admitting he hasn’t slept since Kutner offed himself. Wow, vulnerability. That’s something new for him. But when he awakes, Amber is still there.
That (Cutthroat) Bitch ain’t going nowhere.
I thought House trying to kill Chase was SO far-fetched. It made absolutely no sense to me.
